Why not a go a step further and allow tweaking any settings after creation of the save, perhaps with some additional safety mechanism of "Enable adjusting settings mid-game"
I was about to say the same thing... NG+ would be nicer if it had dynamic settings that could be changed any time you want. Especial the time of day related ones.
