I hope there will be special difficulty levels for certain groups of players.

I already know that a "special difficulty" is coming in a few weeks or maybe within 3 months. But what I’m talking about isn’t exactly the special difficulty—it’s just a higher level of difficulty. If you’ve played Darktide, you’ll know that it has regular high difficulties and also Maelstrom difficulty, which requires players to be level 30. Below that, you can’t play because of weapon and skill balance.

What I’m suggesting is a difficulty mode that restricts player levels, like where only max-level players with full gold gear sets can participate. This would ensure balance and compatibility with the rest of the team. Losing in this mode wouldn’t be a big deal.

I think designing a special difficulty that’s different from the usual ones would be interesting. It wouldn’t be just the hardest difficulty but something more intense. For example, every path you take would have constant hordes spawning. The Rictor Revenant would spawn more frequently, not just once but throughout the path—sometimes 2 or 3 at a time, or even mixed with other enemies. There could also be mini-bosses spawning alongside Tyranid hordes or something similar.

However, this mode should also have ammo boxes regularly spread out along the way, so players don’t run out of resources (since ammo is extremely important in such a high difficulty). The rewards would stay the same as in regular difficulties, but the challenge would be much higher. Losing in this special difficulty wouldn’t feel normal—it would be exciting every time you try again.

(As for the Tyranid psykers, they’re quite annoying. Maybe reducing their health while increasing their spawn rate and adding more hordes with them would be better.)

Oh, and don’t forget to implement attack animation canceling during combat—it would make things a lot better!

Maybe one where all the wannabe elitist, try-hards can go for their self-flagellation and complain more?

There's a new difficulty on the way in the roadmap.

How about you stop calling people who like getting challenged elitists or tryhard, why don't we start there and maybe people will actually take you seriously.

You can play whichever difficulty you like and people who like being challenged can play whatever they like.

Insane that people cannot accept different opinions. This community man seriously.

Honestly, i think it would be cool if eventually they let you customize the Ai director like a mutator and design your own private lobby difficulty.  Maybe not individual damage values, but things like spawn volume, damage modifiers, etc.  Given the patch notes I feel like it could be feasible a ways down the road.

This is amazing idea, since noob headless chickens with focus span of potatoe got difficulties that they can feel comfortable in with their limited capabilities, people who are capable of more should also get difficulty that suits their skill, so everyone can have fun. That would be fair.:)

Why are people worried about an ultra-hard special mode for certain groups of players? Our weapon upgrades only consist of green, purple, and gold tiers, and at the highest difficulty level right now, the gold tier represents endgame upgrades. In the future, to keep players engaged, it's necessary to continuously introduce special difficulty levels. Helldivers 2 has five difficulty levels and plans to add more. Darktide has an ultra-hard difficulty(Maelstrom)  , but completing the mission doesn't offer much different rewards compared to lower difficulties. What players get is the intensity and adrenaline rush. If you don't want to play on a special difficulty that gives the same rewards as normal modes, you don't have to. I don't see why people are getting upset about having an extra difficulty level. It's confusing

If, in the future, there is a special difficulty level that doesn't force players to play it, I think it's reasonable. You can simply choose not to play it and let the many players who still seek a challenge in the combat system of this game savor it instead. That would be better.

I think there should be a powergame mode.  Where only the most epic players in history will be able to play.  mobs kill on successful hit, and you get no armor.

post all the players that can beat it on powergame mode on a special list.  Then they get to be known as the most amazing gamers that have ever lived.

That's the problem the new content is at least 2 or 3 months away, it's too long

Unlike games like elden ring, SM2 doesn't have content behind difficulty. To have an insanely difficult mode would not remove anything from anyone, it's just bonus for those with high time investment in the game.

Yes, everyone can't play it, but since when my mother should be able to play ruthless, or even any difficulty higher than t1 ? To be unable to do for beginners doesn't make the game bad, you can still enjoy the amazing work of FE&E, the setting, the lore, the story. End even look ultra badass, because skins are not locked behind difficulty but how many successful ops you did (except for weapons, but it's pretty small compared to your astartes :)

If there are no updates, quality of life improvements, bug fixes, or anything else during this time, it will be a worse game than a low-budget indie game.

A once every three months update is comparable to a low-budget game like Darktide, and that’s from a small company, too

How about a game mode where your progress is deleted if you die? Would you guys enjoy that? If you win 10,000 missions of it you get a badge next to your in game name and few new colors for your armor.

When I talk about special difficulty levels, it seems like some people are about to choke on water or something like that, even though now we can parry small enemies and get armor back. This should mean that the game has more enemies in a non-stop fashion.

You are really fragile about the fact that some people enjoy games that are a bit more difficult huh?

A small portion. No one important enough to ruin your game by revolving all design around it. Certainly not when they make whining posts and demand thousands of dollars be dumped into things catered to them while attacking literally every other player because the entirety of the game's content isn't supposedly good enough for their lofty and irrelevant standards.
