Your previous game World War Z could not be modded to cheat and increase 'client-sided' damage of your weapons. How is it that this game has none of the game files encrypted such that anyone can not only add damage but all the future DLC content and new enemies and join public games? Do you not care Saber Interactive/Focus Interactive? Those who want to play the game without spoilers or cheaters have to resort to private games.

Sylvain Le Roux, senior brand manager at Focus Entertainment, already stated that they dont give a shit if Pve players are getting violated by modders.   "Modding in PvE missions does not represent an issue to us,” Le Roux clarified. “This is a cooperative, unranked game mode. If players wish to go through the trouble of modding the game and re-doing it every couple of weeks when our patches break their mods, just to have a Thunder Hammer on a Bulwark for a PvE mission with their friends, that is their choice.". yeah great job brand manager......

One thing to take notice is how they say "with their friends, that is their choice."
To me that sounds like they are OK if it's done in Private Lobbies with like minded individuals and not in Public Quickplays.

It would be good if they could clearify whether or not they literally meant if it's ok amongst pre-made groups of friends or not.

I'm at a loss to how me modding my game so I can run my Tactical with a plasma pistol is running anyone else's game.

Most of the mods you will find at lets say Nexus do acutely involve you to run private lobby's or in off line mode. As with 4.0/4.1 modding did become a bit harder due to EC.

Most popular mods by endorsements.

Anti-Stutter - High CPU and Disk Priority Simple registry edit to enable High CPU and Disk Priority for the Space Marine 2. Effects no one but helps the end user.

Simple Armor and Heraldry Unlocker, This mod simply unlocks all of the armor and heraldry for each class in the game. again how does this effect anyone bar the person using it.

Disable Screen FX : Disables various annoying Screen FX again only effects end user.

NO HITMAKERS - SIMPLE CROSSHAIR: No more Hitmarkers + Nice simple Dot Crosshair!: only effects end user.

Disable Intros: Completely Disables all Intros.: only effects end user.

Blood: blood on the armor stay longer:  only effects end user

So forth and so forth These are mods, I think the OP might be talking about cheats being used by cheaters, in PVP which is wrong and they should be banned, Unless of course they can provide evidence that people are in fact cheating in PVE, but then if they are does that matter, I mean its PVE, more fool them.

Taken from the same source of the quote earlier in this thread.

“It is true that balance may be affected but this is a non-competitive environment where balance doesn’t carry the same importance. Sure, this may make the game easier for them, but the cosmetics unlocks are tied to completing missions regardless of difficulty. They could achieve the same results by playing on very easy with maxed out characters and weapons.”

As they said, balance may be effected and it may make the game easier.
In public lobbies there are people of varied views on modding and many of them do not want mods to effect the balance or having it become easier due to mods.
So if people choose to use mods it would (to me) only be common decency to consider that not everyone wants mods being used.
And since mods is an individual choice, not even officially supported by the game it's just fair that people doesn't use them publicly to not effect people around who don't want them.

Purely visual mods that doesn't effect the gameplay is one thing. But mods that do alter how the game is played is another.
What equipment each class can bring to the group is part of the balance and not everyone wants that being altered.

There's PC mods where you can insert the Dreadnought into any operation. (Before anyone says that's just for offline matches, you just need to go to the mod author's discord to get the mod that works for online games). So yeah, you can play online with randoms (or friends) and add a Dreadnought into an Lethal operation along with anything else you want to do.

Saber, this is absolutely cheating and needs to be dealt with. I didn't pay for this game to be squaded up with cheaters.

People are in public matchmaking right now playing with double auspex, double grenade launcher, spawning Dreadnoughts while in lethal matches, where people play for a challenge. That's cheating and ruining the experience for others. So yeah, people are going to bitch.

there are mods that impact the game for people who do not use them, and that is awful.

take the mod that remove the 1 class per type, you don't mod and you find yourself in a game with 2 tactical, you joined as a tactical...... so 3 scan, that is something that changes the game for the person not using the mod too.

or your "brother" is spamming infinite grenades removing every enemy pack

you just hop in a quick match and you find the game changed for you by another player and you can't prevent that.

Man, I've played A LOT of SM2 and I have yet to see anyone do anything like this. It's definitely not that common, or at least not in my region.

I see a lot of posts about people modding all kinds of crazy shit and yet in my 500 hours of game play I have seen one other person using the same mod as me.  Not saying its not happening and some of them really do need to be in private, i.e. the Dreadnaught one, but again if you see this you have the option to leave the operation and start a new one no one is forcing anyone to stay in that operation.

Its only effecting your game play because your letting it. and even then its one operation, get to the end and or not, block the players you have just encountered that you don't wish to play with again via the in games block function and move on.  If you want to be the victim then that's on you.

The person with mods could also ask if the others are OK having mods. And if not could leave and try again.
It's not only the people who don't like mods that have to leave if someone who joins use them.
Since mods is not part of the game and quite literally can alter how the core features of the game is played they should be more considerate of people around them.

The Class Overhaul mod just added most of the functionality I was referring to two day ago, it'll become more common as the mod gets downloaded more.

And anecdotal experience isn't everything. I personally haven't been kicked at the very end of the operation by someone trolling, but a ton of people have, I'm not going to deny their experience just because it hasn't happened to me yet.

The solution is much easier than that. The presumption should be is that a person is not OK using mods. Mods should never alter gameplay experience of a person who joins public games in a vanilla client. People say that developers just need to enforce mandatory private lobbies, but I don’t think it’s enough. Even if playing mods in private lobbies, these characters still have gear or things they unlocked through non-intended means, such as using non-released content, that they later might use for playing with regular players. My position is that any mod affecting experience for any player other then the person who uses the mod should be prohibited, unless it is possible to completely separate modded characters from non-modded ones. Like, if you played a mod, that’s it, you can now only play with other modded characters, but since there are no such system in place, public online play should be kept pure.

I'm fine with modders, but only in private or solo games. keep that stuff outta public lobbies.

I dont want to see the new Dark Angel's DLC cosmetics until they're released, shouldnt have to deal with modders in public games.

Yes, someone at Saber said modding was fine. But they did not mean using your mods in public lobbies or using paid cosmetics DLC that isn't even released yet.

People like you and that Tom aka WarhammerWorkshop are exactly the kind of people who should get banned. You are ruining the game if you join with different weapons or locked DLC skins. Just because the action might have little or no consequences does not mean it is right. Consenting other players and respecting the game and how it is made is more important. You know when modding will be good, if it actually increased the difficulty by spawning 2 bosses or 3-4 Extremis like before. But NO, "we modders only create mods to make the game even more easier to satisfy our power fantasy, do not respect the game and balance. We are no-lifers, so to achieve something we just want to feel powerful in a video game."

While i agree on the Dark Angels DLC cosmetics and some of  the cross classes weapons ( some loadouts feels completely off the lore ) and that the mods should only work in private lobbies :

I think the devs should watch and learn from some mods and bring them into the official game ( ex : Firstborn skin , Chaos ops -beause yes , they will arrive sooner or later in the mods) instead of refusing every cool ideas in that regard and missing the opportunity to make the game better on behalf of silly excuses , be them coming from GW or the devs.. you want to keep the cool and fun content from us ? Fine we will make it by ourselves , and dont complain later to have missed this occasions when the player count will drastically drop because they have constantly been asking things you devs ignored

40k is a universe where what does really count its not just how you play the game and its mechanics. The characters with which you play and what they do are EQUALLY important in my opinion. You can have a super cool gameplay, but without the right characters ( the most beloved firstborn,  or Chaos marines done right instead of mere copies of the boring primaris loyalists) the game will gradually become like a missed opportunity . I think many 40k fans bought the game because It looked like an ongoing project where many of the things they love so much would have  eventually brought into the game ( the things i mentioned above all) and seeing the devs refusing all of them its just disheartening and makes me feel if there is any point in playing it anymore . So yes , modding is well welcomed in that regard , and i think we will get to a point where most of PC players will play the game in the private modded lobbies , rather than the official ones if things keeps going like what i mentioned.

Ah i forgot to note :

Idea section is literally  like an official mod workshop for the game but what it actually does in practical terms , is just tweaking neglegible tiny bits of already existing content ( ok for balancing the game over all, but thats It) ... And when It comes to more consistent content addition , the things that really matters to most of the players and would make the game  are not even taken in consideration. What a smart way to change something in order to not change anything in a meaningful way. And please stop arguing with the usual silly "its heavy on resources than you may think" . You made a huge load of money from the sales , make use of them to implement what we want and told you a million times instead of what you think we would want.

And thats It. Sorry  for the rant guys , im getting really tired of that kind of attitude by them and i feel kind of hopeless for the constant denials of many amazing ideas. I wanted to support the game buying even the cosmetics i dont really care for , but now i think i wont anymore untill i see some consistent things coming

I really hate those "how is it cheating in pve" Ret++ds Definition: "Act dishonestly or unfairly to gain an advantage." You could cheat in Warcraft 3, Age of Empires, and plenty of other single-player games. It’s still cheating. If you do it in your private lobby, that’s totally fine — but it’s still cheating. They get easier missions by spawning dreadnoughts, using better weapon or class combinations, accessing DLC-locked cosmetics, and even getting easier access to lethal skins. These are all advantages they gain while playing in a public lobby, and that’s cheating. I want to play a challenging co-op game and don't need some fu**ing cheater who spawns a dreadnought or uses a thunder hammer as a bulwark. So yes, ban them all the moment they enter a public lobby." Let them mod,let them have fun modding and let those who want to use mods, use it. but stey the f++k out of public games. cheaters.

And also could i have my money back for the season pass? i mean i can get everything for free now, since you support cheating
