As the title says, when are we getting the patch for the performance issues that arrived with Update 6.0? It's been almost 3 weeks now since the update was dropped, I do not care about the content pace or new additions if I'm not able to play the game smoothly, if the game doesn't run well. If the game will be broken with the updates, I would rather not have an update at all.

I'm going to copy/paste Sykesy's original post from his Idea:

The Issue:

Myself and many others are suffering severe performance issues which for many of us has made the game completely unplayable.

Essentially we are experiencing a sever drop in FPS, for me it starts off ok but quickly degrades over time until it reaches sub 30fps with extreme stuttering/hitching. This alone makes the game impossible to play but if continued the game crashes with no error report coming up.

For most of us this started after 6.0 but I have seen reports of the same issue as far back as 5.0.

Its important to add that this issue is not due to people not meeting the minimum requirements. Many of us have played the game extensively prior to this. It is not our hardware.

Why This is Unacceptable:

Space marine 2 is a full price game which retails at around £35-70 depending on the edition and format. Many of us pre ordered "Ultra", "Gold", or "Collectors" to gain access to the season pass. i.e. we paid for that to. This equates to around a 2 years of paid support for the game at the price Sabre set. In return we are due a functional game that is as advertised as well as DLC for those who have the pass.

As the game is currently unplayable for many of us, Sabre is breaching their contract with us, its that simple.

The Solution:

  1. Sabre/Focus, make and announcement acknowledging the game is broken for many players and state clearly what you are (hopefully) already doing to fix it. If you can give a timeframe please do that.
  2. Fix ALL game breaking bugs before doing anything else. If it means no more DLC or events until it is fixed, then I am sorry to those who can play the game, but that's what I am calling for. I am sure anyone effected by this feels the same.
It's unprofessional to have failed in fixing all the game breaking bugs at this point. That should be priority number 1.
  3. I do not want a refund, the game works for most people, so that is clearly a possible outcome.
  4. Re-Release any events people may have missed once the game is fixed.

What You Can Do:

To Get The Game Fixed:

  1. If the game is unplayable for you, or you just care about the games community and image, please up vote this page. It's top right, above the title of the post, the weird "Focus Together" symbol with the little arrow. Make sure you link your Steam account so that your Steam achievements add points to your profile. This seems to add more points to the posts you upvote which in-turn moves us up the list of post on this website. It could be wrong but it wont hurt to try anyway.
  2. If you have more time it will help you or at least us if you bring attention to this issue by sharing the page, commenting on videos and posts about the game and by contacting Sabre. You can do that here - Contact Sabre
Please note I have already had a discussion with Focus and Sabre but since I asked to make a complaint they have been ignoring me! I didn't say what the complaint was about either so this is very bad practice.
  3. Leave or change your review to negative on whichever platform you use until the game is fixed.
I have seen recent Steam reviews move from 80% to 79% over the past few days, so we are already having an impact.
  4. Lastly, leave a brief description of the problem you are having bellow, when it started, your PC spec and what you have tried to fix it.

To Try and Fix it Yourself:

Below are a list of possible solutions. For me none of these have solved the problem but some of them did delay the onset of performance issues. If you have a solution please share it bellow so everyone can benefit!

This one many sound obvious but Sabre/Focus will tell you to do it. Download and install and updates for: The game, Graphics drivers, Operating system. Try adjusting settings in game. Start at low 1080p setting, if it works slowly increase them. Validate the integrity of your files. backup your game saves then delete and reinstall the whole game. Disable 3rd party software that may be interfering. Change the files of the game to disc "C".

I was able to delay the onset of the performance degradation by following this up to the point where he downloads the FPS pack. I did not do that part. Hopefully it helps some of you.

A community member (username "Rennerrek") suggested deleting the "4K Texture Pack" for the game on Steam, stating that this worked for them.

To do this head to Space Marine 2 in your Steam library, go to SM2, got to the settings icon on the far right inline with the "play" button, click properties, DLC and untick the box for the 4K texture pack.
I did not have the pack installed so I tried installing it which didn't work. I deleted it afterward but it still didn't help.
