dwddd.JPGTo me this pistol was at first exciting but after some testing it became nothing more that disappointment.

Why?

Because whenever I use it I got a feeling it cripples my class.

1. It has very short range.

2. It has very limited ammo reserve.

3. Even on relic it's not as powerfull as you would think it should be given low ammo.

and biggest downside

4. It makes you useless vs mines and ranged enemies.

There is 0 reasons why you would ever choose this gun as melee class like assault. If you do, you have nothing to deal with mines and ranged enemies until you get into close combat - which is not always possible to be made in time.

Even when you take this gun as sniper, issue remains the same. Either you waste sniper ammo for minoris and mines - and believe me, shooting mines with sniper rifle is really annoying - or you just hope your teammates will deal with them.

Only viable option is to use it as Vanguard because you can still carry other machine gun for medium-long range but still... why take this gun when you can just take Volkite Pistol which is I think best pistol in the game? (no recoil, can disrupt Biovores and Majoris, lots of ammo, deals with mines in no time)

Also design is lazy. I hoped for axes or something and we got recycled mini melta that has no use in the game.

Saber: Let's introduce a new weapon.

Players: Hoorayy!!!

Saber: Then let's nerf the F out of it.

Players: Wait what?

Probably designed only give it to Sniper, Vanguard, and Heavy. Then when we ask of Assault too because of Blood Angels lore, they nerf it as a punishment. Saber are bias fans of Dark Angels or Space Wolves, it's all make sense now.

It's neither 'nice' or 'crap' as it is used for very specific purposes. While there are things it good for, there are things its bad for as that's the trade off. All weapons are basically the same as that. I don't use it now I've maxed it out as it's not good for my playstyle, so I prefer other weapons. One of my friends really likes it for its clearing purposes and one of the weapon perks is a the big melee damage bonus (+20% I think?) when it's out of ammo.

For most classes I think the Plasma Pistol is the best as 1 charged shot guarantees preventing calls for help, even on Absolute, and deals with mines plus no need to reload. As for Sniper you should still be using the Bolt Pistol as headshots can still 1 shot a Minoris.

I'm disappointed in its lack of damage, but not surprised given that the Multi-Melta and Melta Rifle also lack the damage that they're supposed to have.

So, in my view, if this pistol was designed purely for pve to shine with certain perks - that's ok because in pvp it doesn't seem to be useful, it's more like a fun gun.

It will shine in future but not because of perks but because noone will use it over alternatives. People did now because they were curious but after curiosity is gone I basically instantly changed to plasma pistol/heavy bolt pistol/volkite pistol on all my builds. Like I said I fail to understand why would you ever use this weapon if you have better alternatives.

The perk you mention is probably +50% weapon damage but weapon has only one bullet in mag at the time. Which means 90% of the time you have this weapon in your hand it's because you are reloading it.

Interesting perk I must admit but weapon is still wayyyy below average.

The most hated marine in each chapter should be punished by going to battle with inferno pistol and in this armor from latest community event.

So the base damage of the Inferno Pistol is 24 , while the base damage of the Melta is 48, with a little bit more ammunition for the Inferno Pistol.

That makes it a situational Secondary weapon for some class/primary weapon combinations, and thats perfectly fine for me.

No secondary should be as strong as any primary range weapon, and in contrary to the server issues and the way too easy Absolute difficulty, the Inferno Pistol is no issue in SM2 right now.

It is the most useless secondary for boss operations. It has a unique playstyle where your better without ammo, make assault even more of a glass cannon.

It’s main drawbacks are that it’s gunstrike damage is only half that of the HBP and plasma and it only has a very short gunstrike range so you lose many opportunities. I get it’s designed for horde clear which it’s ok at. You also lose many of the benefits of headshots e.g. sniper cloak regen.

The only class it is useful for is the Sniper, which up to this point lacks short range crowd control and knockback. But it's it is too slow firing and slow reloading and too small a magazine. It already doesn't do super a lot of damage and has super short range which is further hurt by the fact you lose gun strikes easily. It should have a larger magazine like 6 at the least and/or faster reloads. It should reload as fast as regular pistols. The range should be short, but not so short that you can't even get off a gunstrike from Perfect Dodges

I have been using the inferno pistol on my Vanguard with the fast firing carbine. Excellent hip firing pairing with block chainsword. The Inferno Pistol is super for a blast in between block stacks before the adrenaline dump. This works incredibly well to regain contested health in the middle of occasional massive wave weirdness.

Downside is ammo pool, distance and gunstrikes. Sadly the laser pistol or plasma pistol  are the best  for all round use.

Yea man I also find this vanguard setup only one in which this weapon can do good.

But I still prefere Volkite tbh because it can disrupt ranged majoris, biovores and kills Chaos marines really fast. Like really fast, almost like plasma.

Not great.  It clears ads.  That’s about it.  Biggest problem is you trade, off range, loading speed and ammo to get a weapon that just does average damage.  The damage is the problem (even at relic level).  It’s just meh for the trade off of other weapon traits.
