A location (it doesn't have to be the size of planet Earth) with a NPC shop, roaming  enemies/elites while other players run around. different dynamic events that are happening for currency, cosmetics, XP, etc, or to show off your awesome customized space marine!

By the Emperor that sure sounds epic! But lets be real that is definitely not in the realm of reality for how this game is being built, that's basically a whole new game. That'd be like any horde shooter having a open world section when it's built around the idea of linear AI director chaos~ Like that may sound cool but that's just not in the cards. But hey we can hope still!

I completely understand and agree, but the off chance they like the idea in one way or another would be awesome

It's just about expanding the PVE mode to be larger than the 3-player PVE. You can see this from the maps in Helldivers, with their high, low, and wide angles, and expansive layouts. Enemies continuously swarm in, both large and small, on the ground and in the air. This could be done with Space Marine 2, but whether the developers will do it is another question

This is my in-depth conceptual idea.

Sounds dope. Im really looking forward to seeing how they expand PVE. Would love to see larger group content like 6-8 player squads for Raids/Dungeons style content

While this sounds cool, I agree with @WillemDaCage.  I just don't think the game was designed for that type of gameplay.

I would much rather see them invest their efforts into a game mode more like Eternal Crusade - if it's even possible from a technical perspective - then add a player 'hub'.

Let me customize the battle barge and show it off to my battle brothers - but ultimately, I think their time is better spent innovating on the game modes we have now, new campaigns, new missions (especially procedurally generated ones), etc.

Again, not trying to be a stick-in-the-mud as the idea is awesome.  I just think there are more important areas of growth for the game that are far lower hanging.

While the idea of a large open arena or an expansive horde mode map could be an exciting addition to the gameplay experience, a Patrol Zone similar to Destiny 2 doesn't quite fit the Warhammer 40K universe. The essence of 40K is rooted in intense, brutal conflict, where every battle is deeply significant, and the stakes are always incredibly high. Introducing a Patrol Zone, which offers a more casual, exploratory gameplay experience, would dilute the sense of purpose that defines Warhammer 40K and detract from the mission-driven and conflict-heavy focus of the game.

Warhammer 40K is all about large-scale, decisive warfare where every skirmish carries weight and meaning. The universe is built on the idea of constant, desperate battles, and players should always feel like they are part of something monumental, whether they are on the front lines of an invasion or holding back overwhelming hordes of enemies. A sprawling open-world experience would undermine this core element by making battles feel less urgent or consequential.

However, alternatives that would maintain the intensity of Warhammer 40K while adding new layers to the gameplay could include large arena-style maps or horde modes. These alternatives would allow players to face overwhelming odds in a structured environment, providing opportunities for epic battles while still retaining the core themes of the 40K universe. These modes would focus on teamwork, tactics, and survival against massive waves of enemies, offering players a thrilling challenge without compromising the narrative weight of the setting.

Another possible alternative could be introducing mission-based zones, where players are given specific objectives that tie into the larger narrative of the Warhammer 40K universe. These zones could be expansive, but they would have clear goals, such as defending key strategic points, destroying enemy strongholds, or surviving long enough to extract critical information. This approach would maintain the tension and intensity of the game, ensuring that players always feel like they are part of a meaningful conflict.

Additionally, raid-style content could be introduced, where larger squads of players work together to tackle more difficult enemies and objectives. This would preserve the sense of scale and importance while allowing for more dynamic group-based gameplay. By focusing on missions with high stakes and greater challenges, the game could expand its PvE options without losing the core elements that make Warhammer 40K distinct.

Ultimately, while a Patrol Zone might work well in other games, it doesn't suit the grim, high-stakes nature of Warhammer 40K. By focusing on mission-driven objectives, large-scale horde battles, or raid-like content, the developers could introduce new game modes that align more closely with the universe while still offering fresh and engaging gameplay experiences.

Nah. Sounds like Destiny patrol areas which sounds boring and a lot of work for the devs. I'd rather get a bunch of new ops and op variants cause rn there is not enough content on offer espeically with how annoying Chaos is to fight so there's really only 2 good ops with ballistic train op being rather mid. Low visibility is a bad gimmick for a map and lacks any set pieces like decapitation or fighting that helldrake.

Would be nive to have a Division 2 style freedom open world to take my space marine. Maybe a burn Ash city with collectables  and on map missions. Good to.have the characters, but even better to have somewhere to go with them.
