New Class: Chaplain

"Hear me O' Emperor of Mankind!.. let me guide my Brother's into battle, a Crozius in hand and a Firey Sermon on my tounge as we slay the Witch, the Heretic, the Mutant, and the Xenos filth!, LET ME BE THE GUIDING LIGHT TO WHICH MY BROTHERS LOOK!! LET ME TELL THE STORIES OF THE WARRIORS OF OLD AS WE MARCH UNTO FIELD OF BATTLE!!, LET MY FAITH STRENGTHEN THEIR RESOLVE SO THAT WE MAY CLAIM VICTORY IN YOUR NAME!!!, VICTORY OR DEATH! FOR THE IMPERIUM!!, FOR THE EMPEROR!!!" - Me as I beg for a Chaplain Class.



Now, a Chaplain class that's all about Melee and Support would be awesome, plus you wouldn't even have to actually NAME them as they're always called "Brother Chaplain", "Chaplain", Or some other title that's related to their station.


Some idea's for the classes ability are:


1. A Temporary immunity to damage for a short duration(Slightly less than the Sniper's camo cloak) which also taunts the enemies and forces the AI to target you instead of your team mates(Which would mean you are surrounded by enemies once the ability wears off).


2. An alternate version of Titus' ability from the campaign, for example: make it an A.O.E where the healing is dummed down and you're team gets a boost to damage while within like 15-25 metres of you.


3. A zealous and fiery chant/sermon/speech that lasts for approximately one to two minutes and buffs your squad with increased Health, Resistance, Movement Speed, and/or Temporary immunity to thing's like the Thousand Son's psychic effects or the Tyranids poison for the duration of the speech. 



A way to balance these could be to give them longer cool downs, or give them a "stockpile effect" in place of a cool down where you can use the ability at any time but it's effects are weakened if it's not given enough time to "Build up"/"Recharge", meaning you can use it when it's got 10% charge but the abilities effects are reduced down to 10% as well which then means the ability's timer is also only 10%, Example: if the timer is 100 seconds and the buffs are a flat +100 across the board, then activation of the ability at a 10% recharge means that the time limit would be only 10 seconds and the buffs would only be a flat +10 across the board.


Now a small message to the devs: I'm no developer so I don't know how difficult something like these abilities would be to add or balance, but I DO know that it would take time and as such would like to state that I'd prefer if this was something you guys took your time on, with the release being some time in Season 4 at absolute the earliest if that's what it takes. So as much as I absolutely love the Chaplains and their whole aesthetic, I want a badass representation of them not something that feels rushed in order to meet demands.


P.S.: I really wanna run around with a Crozius Arcanum and an Absolver Bolt Pistol while bellowing praise for my Battle-Brothers actions and skill.

These support abilities would do well in the service of the Emperor. The "stockpile effect" for support classes would be an amazing implementation as well.

Honestly, I think a mix of 2 and 3 would work well for a class ability. The Chaplain could recite a litany that lasts about half as long as a Bulwark's banner with the tradeoff of being mobile, and it could have different effects, depending on which Crozius you have equipped.

Like one Crozius making their litanies provide a damage buff, and another doing something like increasing parry windows, or filling teammates recoverable/white health so they can execute enemies and heal, etc. The whole duration of which you can hear the Chaplain going full Angry Preacher mode.

I imagine the squad banter between a Chaplain and some of the more zealous characters/classes would also be hilarious.

Isn´t the melee support character the role of the bulwark? However as chaplains armour is sick I don´t compain

For the chaos side you could use a dark apostole model, with word bearers skin. 
Also since the Dark Angels are coming, they need special chaplain skins.

I would love a Chaplain class. I don't know exactly how much the limitations of the role would prevent it from being added but I'd certainly love it!


From your abilities I think I also agree that number 2 would do well since Bulwark already provides a defensive kind of aura, but I'd like some changing mixed there as well or the character saying some words after activating the ability. 


I also think the Crozius look cool, I just wonder how long it would take to add Chaplain just for the fact they'd have to animation all the finishers for the Crozius. And I wonder if Chaplains are allowed to use anything else or if lore wise that would lock them with Crozious. I'd like to see a a two handed Executioner Blade that I've seen some WH40K miniatures wield.

Personally I like the idea of what I'd the Chaplain buffs team perks. 


Class passive could be a team perk like 5% to damage, damage reduction, ability recharge. 


Class active: doubles the effect of all team perks for 10 seconds. 


Then the last column could have active modifiers like reduces length of active but 4x the team perks. If the ability is active a majoris execution adds 5 seconds to it. And finally the heal, each team member heals 1 stim worth of health.

Link it to the mic... if you chant the litany of hate together then an aura should form 🤣


(Unrealistic but cool AF if you have a hard-core RP chaplain on yoir team)

We for sure need a Chaplain that either gives us a DPS buff or gives us extra armor or damage resistance. I would also like to see a proper Healing Support with a Apothecary and maybe a technical support using a Techmarine maybe even area denial ability that uses a Tarantula Auto Turret.
