Hello Runners!
Today we’re going to present the new equipment that comes with Season 2: the Unmanned Ground Vehicle (UGV). UGVs are widely used in research and exploration due to their ability to operate autonomously or semi-autonomously in environments that may be hazardous, inaccessible, or inefficient for human workers.
UGVs play a critical role in environmental research by collecting data on ecosystems, climate, and pollution in remote or sensitive areas, aiding in understanding and preserving natural environments.
In geological and geographical exploration, they assist in mapping terrains, identifying resources like minerals or groundwater, and navigating through challenging spaces like caves or tunnels.
Additionally, in disaster response research, UGVs are vital for search and rescue operations, assessing damage in hazardous zones, and studying extreme conditions to improve disaster preparedness and mitigation strategies.
In Expeditions, this agile gadget will be your best ally when exploring deep caves, where your truck would not be able to take you. The UGV can explore narrow passages, and it's especially efficient when having to do rock climbing.
Beware though, as the signal range is limited, like the regular flying drone, but it is possible to increase the range thanks to specific items and specialists. The UGV has 4 different slots to carry resources, and it uses electricity as its source of power.
That’s it for today! This is but a taste of what it is to come, you’ll discover more on February 27 when Season 2 releases!
