We are hardcore simulator Drivers. We don't play for fun, we play for pain and challenge. We like at facing challenges and overcoming them. We don't like simplifications, we like complications. Arcade mechanics disappoint us. No fuel is too arcade, is not fun.


Here's what I suggest: Reduce fuel consumption, so that you refuel less often, so as not to irritate casual players too much. Player can construct a large fuel tanker (10,000 liters for example) near our garage for refuel for refuel the vehicles. Player can construct another fuel tanker near unloading or loading points so that the AI driver tanks are automatically refueled from this fuel tanker at key unloading/loading points (or construct a fuel pipe line to this point from garage fuel tank). Of course, this fuel tankers needs to be periodically refueled from a gas station by cash, delivering fuel on fuel trailers. It is even possible to set up bots to carry fuel periodically by fuel trailers. It will also be possible to share fuel with other players in multiplayer.

Or compromise:
Easy mode without fuel.
Hard mode with fuel

Fuel management is necessary in any driving simulator. It adds depth to the gameplay and excitement.

This, wouuuld suck. there shouldnt be a gamemode more of a gamerule that you can toggle fuel when you make the save.

I agree with OP for Roadcraft. Allowing an option for fuel and damage (at least an announcement to implement this in the future) is ideal. Not just a hardcore mode, but custom options that can preferably be toggled on even later in a save. Many players want to feel like they are running a logistics/construction business and those that don't can turn those features off. 


Roadcraft has huge hype around it so at least announcing a roadmap for these types of features would be best if not implemented on launch.

I read somewhere that the dev tested this feature and removed it for a better gameplay. After playing the demo i can understand why they chose this. I feel its already more drving back and forth, for example when you build your own road (or maybe thats just me when i add some more sand and try to make it straight several times). Supposedly the refill area of the quarry will also be lower in the full game. If now there is also fuel which i have to refill from time to time, i can see that this gets annoying.


But i do think that fuel could work as a hard mode setting.

I think this definitely needs to be into Roadcraft but only as a difficulty level at the start of the Career and not an on off switch to toggle while the game is running.


 I feel the temptation to switch it on when jammed in a tight spot can feel like you've cheated yourself hours of gameplay later and the enthusiasm is lost.


Just my personal opinion I've had this with past sim games and when you wanna do it seriously and cut a few corners the end game satisfaction just isn't there if you haven't actually had to grind through the storm.


And as for players who cant quite manage the fuel and damage systems the mode shown in the demo is a great way to learn the maps and techniques before having to be thrown in at the deep end


Only thing stopping me from Pre ordering is the too arcade game feel to it as soon as I hear a Simulation side to things take my money but until then no thanks.
