After buying the Mastodon I had to buy a new front log carrier. The one I had already bought was not available. Furthermore, if i buy a rear log carrier with another car, the Mastodon cannot connect it. And vice versa.

Not a bug. The Mastodon's log carrier is technically unique to it, so is the trailer I believe. So log carriers bought for other trucks cannot be used on it.
