If the user is unaware of the generator mechanic, it can be difficult to understand how they function. If a user doesn’t own any dlc, the generator seems like a heavy fuel trailer since they’d be unaware of its uses in later regions. Here’s my idea of how to make the user know how the generator mechanic works without having to consult outside sources.

  1. When attaching a player-owned generator trailer, icons would appear on the map and HUD pointing towards generator zones or gateways to maps with generator zones. The icon would be similar to the drop-off icon with the addition to a shock icon. If a generator zone does not exist for in the region, text would notify the player, “No generator zones in [region name]”.
  2. When a generator is moved to a generator zone, the “open functions” text will appear to get the players attention and the “Turn On Generator” function will be highlighted.
  3. If the player isn’t attached to the generator while the generator is in the generator zone and the generator is off, the HUD will inform the player that the generator is off.

These additions will help players understand how the generator mechanic works and will lead to less frustration.
