The ability to shoot through friendlies on your team regardless of how many makes no sense when you cannot do the same to enemies, especially where there is no friendly fire on. So please remove the ability to shoot through friendlies. It creates badly balanced combat and incentives to just "bodyblock" while an slurry of people shoot at the same target that cannot attack those because they're blocked by one enemy in front..

It looks bad, it's a terrible mechanic to not address.

HOWEVER..

If friendly fire was enabled, it would be fair game and actually encourage less spammy gameplay. Adeptus Astartes don't shoot friendlies and spray blindly while spamming explosives.

So I ask, either turn on friendly fire with penalizing friendly fire, or disable the ability to shoot through friendlies.

Having friendly fire would also reduce the amount of ground-slams in the middle of other's 1v1 fights etc.

I don't think friendly fire on such small arenas with such an intensity of fights would be a good idea. Not to mention the griefers who would be killing team mates for fun - no thanks, I had enough of it in Eternal Crusade.

You just punish the griefers. But as I said in the post, removing the ability to shoot through friendlies, that is a more important bit. Because now someone can just bodyblock and the rest of the team shoots through them, but if you shoot with for instance a heavy bolter on that one target, you only hit that one target.

Friendly fire could be a "hardcore" mode variant for normal PVP, but having the non-hardcore not being able to shoot through friendlies is a bare minimum.

blocking all fire with the shield and his homies shooting thru his back

Exactly, and not just bulwark obviously. But it's kinda bad design allowing it with ANY class, so what would otherwise be a 1v1, becomes a 1v2+++ without being able to hit all the +++ targets.

As for friendly fire penalties, they could literally make it remove xp from you if you friendly fire, de-leveling you for it and also add a "friendly fire kills" to the scoreboard. Additionally if someone is clearly repeatedly friendly-fire griefing, they get penalized in the matchmaking and get a message making it clear that they're being penalized for their behavior.

Sorry brother but all the ideas about penalising ff you are suggesting are the soft ones - they wouldn't bother hardened trolls at all. This would have to be something much more severe - eg ban for a day , otherwise it doesn't make any sense, it simply wouldn't work. That is why I prefer it the way it is now, no FF keeping the flow and dynamics of the match at a nice, steady pace - everybody's happy :)

Merely suggesting it in a digestible manner for devs to consider it with, because they might not be welcoming to a suggestion like perma-ban, but that could eventually be a measure in the future and letting steam handle that part.
