If you switch between the two game modes the player always has to cue in for an active session. But if you want to switch settings (difficulty, costomisation etc.) you first have to leave an active session to have enough time.

Its not that big of an issue if you switch from operations to eternal war because you can instantly skip matchmaking. If you switch from Eternal War to Operations you have to jump through a lot of unnecessary Loading Screens. That means it takes more time than it should to switch inm between and i wouldnt be surprised if it made matchmaking harder because you have a bunch of player who cue in for sessions that instantly cancel.

I would love it if they would make it possible to switch between modes without instantly cueing in for a new Lobby.

I thought so too, but you can switch like this too. If you're in the console and you switch to or from Eternal, press the circle button (PS5) and you're in the other mode without starting a match.

Functionality of switching between modes should be as simple as possible.
No additional "inteligent algorithms" should be done in the process.

If you want to switch modes, you switch... and switch only.

If you want to start a game on that mode, you start it with no additional procedures.

If for example a "switch mode" function switches gamemode, applies you to a session and picks a class for you, then the functionality is done in a wrong way.

If in order to switch gamemode and not join any game, you have to stop the game in mid-air by doing some combination of buttons/keys until its too late, its even worse.

I have noticed this behavior as well and it's annoying because at least for me switching gamemodes does not mean - to instantly join game of that mode...

From technical PoV, game has a few crude mechanics that rather add some annoyance to in-between games activities like for example new/possessed cosmetics review. sometimes you have to click on a armor set, sometimes in another place you have to click AND hold to get to details. It doesn't sound like a big issue really, but its hard at least for me to adjust to it and if you want to change cosmetics quickly before another game starts, these legos will be under your feet each time.
I also don't seem to have found option to remove a custom set (if it exists either i'm blind or the option is not visible enough)

Must be work the same i think. On Console the Circle Button is for throwing grenades or go back in the menu.

Just hit ESC after selecting the different game mode.
