Been playing assault in absolute and it feels like the absolute worst class. you get punished heavy by ranged and do no stagger to warriors enraged or non with charged melee hits.
the issue is fighting warriors with tyrranids and chaos is the alpha legion marines. you have no way to do any stagger to any Majoris or higher with charged melee swings. 
if you swing full force a chainsword or thunder hammer or power fist it should at least stagger a Majoris on a charged hit landing not you hitting them getting sent flying backwards because it did nothing to them. melee is the weak point it feels for assault which is all about getting into melee. 
please let charged melee swings actually stagger or do something the extra dmg is almost never worth because you get caught in it

Agreed. Nothing's more deflating when you've wound up a full charge they start to do their blue charge you hit them and it's like you did nothing and then they pummel you and you lose 2/3 of your life. 

Your risk versus reward you risk charging it and hoping to get off your attack before they get off their attack and if you win it should knock them out of their attack with a fully charged attack. 

Other melee weapons feel better like the power fist which still feels like crap takes too long to do anything with it and the full charge attack leaves you two vulnerable to ever really use it. Allowing me to build up stagger quicker or instantly with their charge attacks and then allow the lighter weapons to build up a smaller amount of charge but quicker would make melee much more viable. 

Probably the game feels like it's designed to give more stick than carrot. In some ways it almost feels that they don't play their game that they only watch videos and then assume from those streamers and videos that that's how everybody plays and therefore it's not how they feel we should be playing so they nerf things that just don't need to be nerfed and won't buff things that need to be buffed.
