Dear Saber and Space Marine II community,

Please stop erroneously calling the Mk 7 helmet a Mk 8 Errant helmet! As a 40k enthusiast for close to 30 odd years this irks me to no end lol!

GW only ever released one model with a Mk 8 helmet which was based on a drawing by Jess Goodwyn in 1990.

Notice the cowling over the ears (now used in Primaris helmets).

The only aspect of Mk8 armour that GW produced consistently over the years since 2nd edition was the chest plate with the high gorget and the armoured cover over the abdomen power cables, usually reserved for officers.  Only Mk 7 variant helmets were commonly available for these models.

The most complete Mk 8 armour was realised in 2016 with the Deathwatch Marines as this included both the Mk 8 chest piece and the flexible ankle joint (Features now depicted on Primaris armour.  The Deathwatch Marines still had Mk 7 helmets however.

The Ravenwing Mk 7 helmet with the coms antenna (and now the unmarked version) depicted in the SM II game is based on the Mk 7 biker helmets that have been around since 2nd edition. 

In short there never really was a Mk 8 Helmet (other than the concept and one metal mini) since Mk 8 armour was always depicted and released with Mk 7 helmets.

Please get this helmet Mk 7 designation right in future!

I thought GW was involved in the process and that is something they would've called out, interesting history nonetheless.
