As a console player...I noticed target lock hinders my gameplay and here is why.
When you are in melee combat especially at higher difficulties you need to clear majors quickly. After each combo you are quickly using the execute button which is shared with the target lock. If you do not execute the target as anticipated...you end up locking on and surrounding majors/extremis hitting you from angles you cannot see since your locked on to the current target. This has caused my team and myself so many deaths.
I understand that some may find this useful so I think the best suggestion would be to just give us an option to enable it or disable it if needed. Especially for consoler players.
In theory, it makes sense to lock on to a target until you kill it. However, if you need to switch or dodge an incoming attack from another enemy it causes you to remain focused on the target lock and unable to turn your camera view or move/position yourself the way you'd like.
