The Premise is you and five other battle Brothers Deploy into a high difficulty mission where you face a series of objectives ,Side objectives and challenges leading up to a final showdown . Your Squad, a Deathwatch Killteam, would deploy in together (or sometimes split in half for mission objective purposes) and slay through endless waves behind enemy lines.
Here is an example list of objectives:
Eliminate a Chaos Sorcerer’s beacons before he finishes casting his spell, success in this objective will result in lower add/spawn counts of enemies in subsequent stages of the “raid”. Failure to do so would could summon a portal that unleashes timed waves of enemies During the final Encounter against the Sorcerer.
Defend A Dreadnought that is rearming which would aid by thinning out an enemy swarm heading your way. However failing to complete that objective you’d face the full swarm of enemies.
Defend A group of Tech Priest or Tech Marines that are repairing a Whirlwind Rhino (whirlwind rhino unleashes a barrage that Destroys a reserve of biomass lowering amount of a specific special enemy spawns). With Failure to do so would not decrease those pesky Special spawns.
Also here are a few side objectives that you could do to help with mission progression (lower the difficulty by investing time into completion) or yield in additional bonuses at mission completion.
Find and defend a generator that would open up a cache with ammo/stims and/or even a weapon pick up that can be used only in mission similar to Flamer from original Space Marine. Failure of this side objective wouldn't open the armory door
Eliminate a high Value target (grants additional Crafting material)
Find and activate a Servitor to open a shortcut to the next Main objective.
Eliminate a Tyranid Warrior that is coordinating the local swarm. Success in this task would lower tactical diversity of the Tyranid swarm or debuff the damage intensity of the enemy. While failure will result in no lowering of the enemy threat level.
This is meant to be an end game content Mission with 4 to 6 main objectives organized as stages with some of them requiring the team to split into groups, with side objectives sprinkled throughout the map
Completion of this experience could award the players with a mission exclusive cosmetic be it a helmet, armor part or a weapon variant that is only obtainable through this mission. However to incentivise replay while not straining the players patience the duplicate rewards should be converted to a currency that could be used to purchase any specific cosmetic as a form of a guarantee system.
Matchmaking for this game mode should allow for both pre-made squads and quick-join where former works through a Lobby Browser allowing Battle brothers to form and join any specific Kill Team based on their class or role preferences. Meanwhile quick-join will try to form a squad from any queued up players and let them pick a class in turns with first pick being given to a random player in the lobby with the option to skip their turn if they wish to fill any missing role.
