Ok I wanna start by saying I love all the class in the game, however we’re missing my favorite play style magic and I think the Librarian would fit the role perfectly they’d bring a really cool and interesting play style with force staff weapons with flashy warp abilities

I also don’t think I’d be to op for example in pvp I’d be the tank buster but be just as squishy as the sniper

libararian would obviously be awesome but I think it doesnt fit in terms of the other classes, they are all infantry currently so adding a hero for only 1 person to play would feel like its a bit out of place and could cause frustration when people quickly lock him in, might mean that people just leave games too. It would be cool though ngl, chaplain too!. Maybe this could be for something more akin to a totally solo trials mode where youre times in killing a certain amount of enemies or something

@Danteezy - I'm not sure it would be so out of place.  It really depends how this game changes as it grows - and how they decided to implement a Librarian.  They could lock powers behind a wall like they the armor - so that you have to engage in melee to get your powers back.  Plus, it could also be a PvE only class if it was too game breaking in PvP.

That said, I would definitely LOVE to see other classes - including a Librarian.

But, I could see Apothecary and Chaplains before I saw Librarians.  Heck, I could even see a Terminator unit before Librarians.  These are all easier to implement and have powers that fit in easier with the existing group.

Terminators would be sick, theres so much they could do and its exciting, they just need time to give everything the justice it needs

yea I want more classes than just a librarian but I just like the idea of warp lighting and fire in a horde shooter like this plus I wouldn’t really call it a “hero” class cuz they way I’d see it is more of a mage type class big crowd control attacks from the back line while bulwarks in the front

I could see adding a Librarian/Sorcerer the game easily. The biggest problem is their potency far outweigh a squad depending on the writer. I'd prefer to see them as a playable class for both PVP and PVE but could see them being a HVT style character for pvp. I'd also love to see a Chaplain/Dark Apostle and an Apothecary for some better heals ESPECIALLY for operations. Normally I can capitalize on the contested health and get through fine enough, but I know some of my friends would love to have one. Maybe even have their special be carrying the gene-seed properly and not losing it on a drop.

I think a librarian class would bring a refreshingly different play style.  I personally am not a huge fan of librarians in the lore over, say, chaplains or tech marines, but I think the potential for a psychic special ability and a force weapon is much more interesting than a chaplain with an inspiring war cry and crozius, a or a techmarine and a auto-turret.  Not to say those wouldn’t be cool additions too, but the Librarian could be more unique and interesting to play.

People have raised that point that it seems obvious that a librarian should be more powerful than some of the other classes, and it would therefore be awkward to balance. Rather than the very difficult task of trying to perfectly balance all classes to remain equally effective at all times, Saber could instead have unequal points costs for each class, where:

1) A more expensive class (e.g. librarian) requires squadmates to choose a less expensive classes (e.g. tactical) for the squad to remain under the limit for total points. I understand that building squads in this manner greatly complicates matchmaking, so perhaps this level of complexity should come after matchmaking wait-times have been improved.

or

2) The player and/or squad receives somewhat reduced experience when completing a mission at a higher than normal points cost. This would open up all kinds of possibilities for squad types. For example, they could deliberately make tactical the weakest class, and allow everyone in the squad to choose this class. Then make an achievement for completing a mission with a tactical squad. If we can agree that some weapons types and/or rarities are just flat-out worse than others, then they too could have different points costs associated with them. Of course, the trick is to make every player just as happy to team up with a librarian as with a tactical brother.
