​The basic idea is that players can select modifiers at the start of operations. Other people suggested this already but the main thing about my idea is that there's a list of random ones that can be selected, maybe something like "DAMAGED CERAMITE. -25% ARMOR, +35% END MISSION EXP" or "PROTOTYPE AMMUNITION - +35% DAMAGE, -20% END MISSION EXP" or even "ENHANCED WARGEAR. - +25% ABILITY CHARGE, -20% SPEED" plus some others where it could be "TYRANID INFESTATION. - More enemies [such as pyrovore] spawn, +50% END MISSION EXP


And then for offline players and players who just generally want a harder experience, maybe allow offline progression and increase the amount of modifiers that can be selected, like maybe from 2 in a public lobby to 3 in an offline lobby. This allows people who play offline and/or with grinding mods to have an easier grind, while people who just want to suffer can also suffer more!!!


Alternatively maybe Focus can just select global modifiers that show up in options depending on the update or gamemode and swap out each update
