Previously Saber had published a mechanic that encouraged players to stay in groups.
This mechanic was interesting and realistic of how a space marine should play. It's true that the range may have been a little short, but it shouldn't have been removed from the game, and the devs should have left it up to the players to decide whether or not to activate it.
In the higher difficulties, I too often see players leave the formation and die in their own corner, whereas this mechanic somehow forces you to play with your teammates, which is not always the case at present. It would have been logical to have it in absolute. It wasn't insurmountable.
Some ideas :
- Allow players to activate this option: via menu, an object (like gene-seed or relic) or in absolute ;
- Instead of taking away armor regen on exectutions/gunstrikes when leaving the formation radius, give every team member a buff ie. damage reduction, faster cooldowns etc. when staying together. And the opposite effect if the player moves too far away ;
- Increasing the range (to reduce the impact on melee players) ;
- Adding a timer (5-15s) to return close to the group ;
- ~15% boost exp if the mission is completed with tight formation ;
- 3% boost damage (1% corresponds to 1 space marine in the formation as a morale system ; also improves the surrounding cadians, which could be increased by 10%) ;
- 3% boost hp (also improves the surrounding cadians, which could be increased by 10%)
