Let's say you have green upgrade stuff that is used to unlock tiers. I used three of them AFTER unlocking green tier of a weapon. I had some spare green upgrade thing , and game allows you to use them on weapons. I used on three weapons, and got the perks. The main problem here is, there is a bar below , which shows the main mastery of the spoken weapon. This bar, if you use the green , purple upgrade stuff, stays the same. It doesn't go up, game gives you the perks but not the said mastery. Three seperate weapons show that they are all at full mastery seperately, and there are only three weapons at that field ( Green) . But the main mastery bar isn't full , I can't unlock purple tier. I can't earn more mastery even if I play the game with the chosen weapons. I think this is a bug, please look into it devs.

Because mastery is associated to its color and, to unlock upper levels, you need to play in upper difficulties and find the datacrane in operation.

So, for example, for the purple mastery, you need to play third difficulty level.

I bought all the green weapons, and then fulled its masteries by paying green upgrade thing. I have like 15 purples in my inventory, the issue is, the game says that my mastery bar isn't full. all three weapons have full mastery, so I can't earn more mastey points

You have to actually use the weapons guys...to finish the mastery to get the next tier.

also dont forget, use higher difficulty to gain those color tokens ;)

on the side space marine 2 > bug

I also thought this was a bug but if you take note in the armory of your current weapon xp and play an operation you will see that your xp for that weapon you are using will increase. Using armoury data to fully increase the different variants does not completely fill the xp meter for that tier. Hope this helps.

You should get one mastery point for each variant that you level up. So for instance if there is 2 variants in master crafted and 3 in artificer you will get 1 point for each one you level up. I’ve not had any from levelling the tiers to max only from levelling the weapon variants. 

I understand the situation now. I thought that you can earn only the points that was shown in the weapon mastery section. To clarify, there are two kind of xp

-Sub- Weapon mastery, which can be earned by playing the game OR using green, purple etc tokens to max up immediately. I call this subweapon  because progress is kept seperately for each group.

- Main weapon mastery, which consists of experience you earn using that weapon ONLY during gameplay. You need to play the game to earn enough points to progress to the other tier. I thought there was only one experience type, that was my mistake. Wish game pointed that out
