Petition to remove the Bolt Carbine from Sniper class in PVP

Ok hear me out, beyond the detractors of it not being a sniper anymore when having the Bolt Carbine as a primary option, it should be replaced with more marksman options.

First and foremost, it is seldom we see people actually using the sniper class as a sniper anymore, though it may have something to do with the Stalker Bolter just being plain bad and no point in using, the Shrike Bolt Sniper is very good and the Las is amazing.

I would suggest adding more sniper rifles and marksman rifles to more suit the class and not just be a tactical/vanguard-hybrid with stealth.

For instance, adding a mk9 ultra would be great as an option with its silencer, and/or a heavy needler, like the deathwatch has (since clearly deathwatch is in SM2).

And in doing so, also increasing the ammo they have, because the ammo count for the Sniper class (besides the Bolt Carbine), is pitifully low.

So I'm just saying, remove the BC, replace it with more actual sniper options. Or at least in the meantime reduce their armor charges down to 1 to emphasize they shouldn't be in the thick of it, especially going toe to toe with Assault and Vanguard. It would be much better to emphasize their role as an actual Sniper.

Just change The Sniper name to Scout.

There fixed it.

Also, the stalker bolter is very good. A little ammo dependent.

Scouts are only neophytes, not full blown marines. Also, stalker bolter is utter trash, underperforms. In a 1v1 fight the sidearms win, even at long range.

I mean, yeah? And their sergeants are some of the most experienced marines around. And that's all heavily chapter dependent.

It should just be directly swapped with Vanguard's Instigator Bolt Carbine. That would also make both classes much more tabletop-accurate.

Vanguard Squads specifically train with the Instigator in table top.

Train with it, maybe, but it's only an option for the Eliminator (Sniper class) sergeant (and default gear for a Captain). And sure, Eliminators are Vanguards in the lore, but they're not part of the SM2 game class.

I think all of the playable Marines are meant to be Primaris that are codex updated compliant according to lore more than table top. That's just my read on it, though?

Yeah, they're all Primaris. But even with the Nova Codex Astartes, different units employ different and specific wargear, in lore and in the rules, suited to their battlefield role. The instigator is very much a precision weapon, which is why Eliminator sergeants can chose to use it. It's out of place on Reivers (who can carry the basic Bolt Carbine), and even Infiltrators use the less snipery Marksman Bolt Carbine

Yeah, and you likely wouldn't mix the units. I was just meaning to say it's limited power picks, and allows some play style changes.

That is a very good point
