Any real News about state of game development?

I understand game development is hard. But what about some news about what developers do right now? Previous News was about that game director says: "Mods good, you can use it but not in online cause it's damages players progression sometimes".

But not any response for real significant questions.

Mayby do some new Q&A there devs answer the most askeble questions?

For example some questions that usually asked:

Q: What state to add a FOV slider?

Q: In patch 3.0 you made changes for some colours and now they not like original Citadel Colours. Can change it back?

Q: Any Updates for PvP? Maybe new maps?

Q: PvP shuffle teams after match are possible?

Q: Can you add class lock matchmaking or maybe allow play same classes?

Q: AI improvment for PvE to make them not only usefull to revive you and not immortal bulletsponges?

Hope developers or community support not going to hide in bunker and make some responses for players. Becaues it's already December on the next week but we don't get any idea what expect from "Season of Dark Angels" for last month. If it's going to be only buyeble skins and new opperation with chaos "For my oppinion had the most boring mechanics and operations" without any chages it's a dead game until the end of the next year where maybe devs add realy new content and make good changes in game.

For the PVP questions, there's only 1 whole new map coming with the Dark Angels update. No other official news has come out about doing anything for the PVP side of things other than that, unfortunately.  There definitely needs to be more transparency from the Dev side of things, for sure, because I'd like to know whats coming AFTER the DA update, other than a random screenshot from the devs showing that potentially the Raven Guard is after the DA update. Also, with how they list out the seasons in the roadmap currently, it doesn't  look like they have any solid plans after the DA season. Just a "New chapter champion cosmetics...." etc.  That just reads to me that they didn't think the game was going to do any good and therefore set up minimal plans for it in case it failed. Plus their responses to some requests being "too hard" or "monumental tasks" just tells me they've transferred devs to other internal teams or let them go and they no longer have the proper resources to do anything significant.

Yeah I think you're spot on, it certainly feels like they're short staffed and if that's the case Saber needs to remedy that, frankly none of their other titles come even remotely close to how valuable Space Marine is and they should be put on hold or at the very least more resources need to go into SM2 right now.

Steam charts barely show 13k players in the last 24 hours and I have to believe that console isn't much better, I've been trying to spread the word about the game and somehow despite how popular of an IP War hammer is there are still so many people that don't even know about SM2's existence, also less important but still relevant, locking the amount of friends you can invite to 2 is really hurting this game a lot I feel. Their really isn't any reason why we shouldn't be able to have 6 players in a lobby together in pvp.

I just hope they kick it into high gear and make this game earn that 70$ price tag

Honestly just tired of 40K titles being given to companies that just want it for a quick buck instead of putting REAL support and passion behind the project.

I would LOVE to see the old BTB "Eternal Crusade" game either get a sequel or some sort of newer big team battles game come out. 40K was meant to be large battles, but all we have right now is older RTS games, the Diablo clone, card or turned based games and SM2's PVP mode. The franchise is LONG overdue for a large team based FPS or 3rd person PVP game as it was meant to be. Make it in the HH era so it's Loyalists vs Traitors/Chaos. Same types of classes on both sides, etc.  What we have now is woefully pathetic.

I think that we'll get an update on Friday this week or latestly on Monday. There will be a new community update as they post one for every month. Hopefully, there will be a lot of questions answered + more details regarding the upcoming December update patch.

I doubt we get anything. The devs have shown their hand as to what's important for them and PVP and the players that love it ain't it.

Apparently there’s an update coming early December with a new PVE map. New PVP maps and game mode are scheduled to come in the new year. Google Space Marine 2 roadmap, it’s all on there.

Thing is however that people don't think that following the roadmap is the best way and want things *now*.
If there's no talk regarding content that is already planned it's a sign that "they don't care about it".

Just to make this clear, I am being sarcastic and people need to learn to be patient and come to terms that things are already on a schedule and will just have to wait for it.

I agree with you about 6 player squads but to say that the game hasn't earned its price tag is unbelievable. You speak of heresy and shall be executed for it by the Chaplain himself.

Yes, I'm in love with the game, gmfinkshed lethal, get all what I can for now, and play for fun, but now it's too much, and stopped play as it's get repetitive, and can be normal, but we need something! I've paid for season pass, to have NOTHING from now, and it's a bit nosense, need something to do after finish things... Make more cosmetics, make weapons or hurry up the development, I was playing it like 4 times a week, now 1 MAYBE and like this all the friends who have the game, it's on a total stall, for no reason, and will loose all the playerbase for this 🤷‍♂️

Just do what a lot of others are doing any play something else until new content is added. Saber made that roadmap for a game that is a lot more popular than they realised so it's technically outdated. If they want more people to play more often then they just need to release content more often. There are lots of new games that came out this month and more coming next month. With Steam sales starting tomorrow you have lots of options to keep you busy until we see something new here.

To say this game doesn't have passion behind it is pretty unjustified. It's been out for only a couple of months and already updates have been coming through in reasonable time. This isn't a triple A title with an ongoing content model that existed from the start. The lack of appreciation from yourself really just shows your lack of understanding on how difficult game development can be. There's nothing wrong with wanting more, but your try to manage your own expectations a little, they've very clearly said there isn't going to be much done on PvP in the short term.

It's the truth brother, it's a great game but it is kinda light on content right now for the price they're asking especially if you got Gold or Ultra edition, if it had another year or two of development to really expand on pve and pvp I think it would have actually won GOTY easy.

I'm willing to wait and be patient as I see SM2 as more of an investment, I just don't want the player base to dwindle to a handful before it's really had it's chance to thrive.

I do know the difficulties of game dev, as I've been a part of a few studio's now.  I don't feel like it does. If it truly had any passion behind it, the game wouldn't be so short and with a lack of content and a clearer roadmap. This game is clearly a cash grab because C-suite, shareholders and investors are impatient and want their returns before the holidays. And I'm sick and tired of seeing products like this across the board with nearly any big studio claiming "AAA" and ESPECIALLY being done with WH40K titles, not just SM2. And before you read too deep again, I'm generalizing.  I'm not claiming Saber/Focus as a AAA studio.

Agree . It seems like 40k games have this kind of curse where they either fails ( example : Eternal Crusade .. i was unfortunately there ,playing the beta , following the q and a , supporting it etc.. just to see it fail and left to rot ) , dont even come out  (Dark Millennium mmo )  or missing almost entirely the point content and gameplay wise on what the fans wants to see in a game carrying that ip on its name. We want to Jump into large scale battles ( like planetside or helldivers , in terms of feeling and immersion) with our own iconic firstborn or Chaos marines and feel the epicness of It.. but it seems no software house (and probably nor GW) is willing to do this , for whatever unknown reasons . And its stupid because It would bring so much players and money to both the devs and GW but apparently they just want to make some easy money in the short term (even by delivering a fine quality game just at the start)and then begone. Its sad and doesnt light up any hope to see that kind of game in the future

Sadly have to agree, it is 'good' and a lot of people are praising it for things it doesn't have rather than the other way around. It's just an average campaign with decent gameplay and a messy endgame operations mode which is defended by egoists who keep saying 'git gud' instead of acknowledging the real issues stemming from insanely unbalanced AI that drives it all and I feel like we are in a strange place of waiting for something that never comes.

it might also very well being the case that they got stuck in some issue they cant still come up with. If I have to guess, the very weird local hosting system is a symptom of some problems they cannot solve as it is. I refuse to believe that in 2024 they cannot avoid having players host their own games in local and every time something changes you need to be booted off and reconnected again. Either they do not have and/or cannot have the infrastructure to host in-house like any other online MP game since 1998.
