Beating a dead horse here but I'd like you guys' take on this.

First, Titus gets made into a primaris type of a space marine while basically recovering from near death (ie unconscious). This bothers me, because the Rubicon Primaris is described as an agonizing process that takes several steps and like with the original procedure, requires the recipient to be conscious during inserting the new organs. If it was possible to do these procedures on unconsious individuals, wouldn't it be how they did this all the time to everyone?

That being said, if I understood correctly, all the marines in the story, or at least Titus and the gang, are PRIMARIS, yet we don't see any of the features to be relevant in the gameplay, not even the perks space marines would have due to their enhancements like superior vision or immunity to poison, plus the primaris thing; heart restart after a serious trauma. The whole game it feels like we're just playing the regular guys who just happen to be just a bit stronger than Gears of War characters, but that's it. I also struggle to find any lore references to having a rechargable shield on power armor, but it's a good gameplay mechanic, so I let it slide.

I'm not saying the game's bad because of this or anything, I'm just curious how the lore heads feel about this.

I'm not too sure about what your actual question is but I'll have a try to answer what I know from W40k books.

1. Becoming a Primaris after sustaining and being seriously wounded, Marneus Calgar, Chapter Master of the Ultramarines was the first 1st borne Space Marine to undergo the change to Primaris. And he did while being seriously wounded. (I think it was mentioned in the book Dark Imperium by Guy Haley)
Another 1st borne Space Marine who went through the same process while being wounded was Ragnar Blackmane. Captain of the Space Wolves. He was actually so badly wounded he couldn't even go into a Dreadnought. When offered the chance to go Primaris he chose that instead of certain death and was successfull.

There are numerous other stories about this and how 1st borne Space Marines are saved by turning Primaris. Though a lot of them fail and die. Some are actually saved.

So Titus becoming a Primaris while being wounded is rock solid as far as the Lore goes.

2. Toughness and resistance to poison. Look at it this way. Being resistant to posion and being completely unaffected by it are two separate things. Think about how you are able to continue to fight and swing just as hard, despite being poisoned and having to to wait for your system and organs to cleanse the infection. That's not a bad way to describe how they handle infections. Works for me and how it's sometimes described in books.

3. Shield on power armour. This one is a little trickier to delve into without writing an entire novel on its own.
So a shield that would work in the way of force fields we have depicted on the Heavy class which uses an Iron Halo. Other types of armour, like Relic, Terminnators etc may have a refractor field. It works similar to an Iron halo in types of defence but those are not depicted in the game.

I chose to regard the shield function in the game, where you have bars, as a section of armour that gets pounded over and over until it has to buckle and give in. Though in general any repairs to it would have to be done by Techpriests or Techmarine.

Is there any real reference to a health bar system on Space Marines? No, not at all. Is it a gameplay mechaninc. Yes. Is it fun? In my opinion yes.

So is there anything out of lore that stands out to one such as myself?

yes, Space Marines don't roll around on ground. I've never read anything regarding that at all, unless when they get hit very hard. It would have been more accurate probably to have them simply take a large 'stride' to to avoid getting hit.

There are other things, but really. I don't care that much. I just want a fun game where I can play a Space Marine and wreak havoc. Any iteration of an Astarte into a game has to be limited at some point. Table top Space Marines are no where near as powerful as how they are described in the books. The lore is massive and exceptionally fun to delve into in the W40k universe. But I think as a game go, it has to serve the fact that it must be a fun game to play first.

Who am I to answer your question?

Just a long time fan who's read the entire Horus Heresy (70+ books)
And have somewhere around another 100+ W40k Books that I've read.

Sometimes Lore is a hindrance to fun and engaging game play. A good game or movie knows how to skirt it or pay homage with or without breaking it entirely. The game does a good job of walking that line I feel.

It is not a shield, "The Emperor protects" but he also doesn't like weakness so he'll only protect you a couple times before looking to someone else to protect while you get your act together.

Thanks a lot for the answers, guys. Just wanted to set this straight. I hope they'll be able to make this game more into the power fantasy of being a space marine as time goes on.

The games already a power fantasy, in the lore our Marines would be Biomass in minutes... lol.

We can take on Several Warriors at once, along with dozens of Gaunts backing them up.

Tyranid Warriors are absolutely deadly in the books, they're a physical match against Astartes.

For me to die in Space Marine 2, I have to be really lazy or over confident on a massive wave. Doesnt matter if its Ruthless or Lethal, me on my Bulwark just absolutely shreds everything coming at me.

But if I wanna just go in and wreck everything with zero effort, I'll hop into Substantial, Average or Minimal is just way to easy. But if you want that unkillable power fantasy, hop into Average or Minimal on a max level character with Relic weapons.

Space Marines are powerful as hell because they're very skilled fighters, so if you wanna feel like that in game then you need to raise your own skill level and get good.

One thing i can say about lore being disrespected at its fullest , at least in my opinion , is the Power Fist melee weapon. It should be the most devastating weapon we currently have in the game but it does feel like its being made of foam rubber. It should annihilate majoris enemies in like 2 normal hits and oneshot them with a charged one, with the animation being the slowest one and strictly single target as a drawback(max two or there enemies bein hit in a swing). If you read the fist description , it clearly says that a direct hit from that weapon is enough to tear tanks/heavily armoured enemies apart and to oneshot infantry units , but the wielder must be willing to sacrifice its speed and be more open to the enemy attacks before landing the decisive blow.  So yes It may play nice in the game and being effective, but definetly doesnt feel as a Power Fist, i definetly dont like how it has been made into this game. And no its not a matter of " its not Calgar gauntlets of Ultramar or other legendary Power Fists" , thats an excuse because at best they could be even more devastating than the standard ones which lore description i mentioned above is valid also for them
