“While I do agree that having the salamander champion kit be for the heavy class would ve been great, from a lore standpoint, I think the sniper class fits just as well. See, one of the things the Salamanders are known for is their exceptional hunting skills. On Nocturne, they often hunt the giant fire breathing lizards that are native to the planet. They also often wear the skins of these lizards as cloaks over their power armor, as is evident from the image shown here. Thematically this fits perfectly with the sniper class. Furthermore, the Salamanders follow the Promethean Cult, an alternative doctrine to the Imperial Cult. One of the values the Promethean Cult emphasizes concerning combat is patience. When it comes to space marines, the salamanders are unmatched in their patience. Whether it be waiting for the perfect moment to strike, or slowly wearing down the strength of their enemies through brutal battles of attrition in order to easily strike them down with a powerful blow, the Salamanders excel in maintaining their patience during combat. I feel this also fits perfectly with the champions sniper being a salamander from a thematic standpoint. Plus, just look at him! He looks cool as hell. As a salamander and space marine 2 fan, this makes me really happy.”

I feel like indiegamesguy30 is trying to square a circle here, It just doesn't fit the Salamanders chapter overall theme at all.

Only one of the seven companies in the chapter use vanguard units afaik,  maybe if Saber changed the pauldrons to match the markings of the 7th company like in the codex excerpt you included it would be little better.

"Plus, just look at him! He looks cool as hell"  100% agree it does look awesome and sniper is my third favourite class so will I be using it.

But as a salamander and space marine 2 fan I am little disappointed by this.

Yeah I feel ya 🙂 I totally understand 

The skin looks cool, no doubt, but its just not what was wanted or expected. I think people will be ok with it, but it could have been so much cooler to have the skin be more aligned with the lore for the Salamanders. Just disappointing. 

I don't know if Saber can refit the pieces for the Heavy class but I think EVERYONE, would be happy if they recast the skin for the Heavy or Tactical.

I think someone mentioned there eventually will be multiple champion skins for each class in the future (obviously will take some time 😭) but if that’s true , can’t wait to see a heavy salamander skin too!! Would be SO sick running around with a multi melta

I don't understand why they made the Ultramarine Champion a Heavy when it probably should have been Tactical, that made them not want to give Salamanders the Heavy they deserve. I do agree with others that have said they would have at least preferred Vanguard. Ultimately given how long each cosmetic pack is taking them I don't see a reason they can't give us multiple classes especially given how interchangeable some of the parts are.
