issue

fighting chaos feels unsatisfying because of how it decreases the satisfaction of cutting thru hordes in favor of adding anemic dummy "marines". exact same mistake SM1 did.

chaos marines to imperial marines supposed to be what Vergil is to Dante. rivals, not pitiful dummies that are desecrated by overexposure of putting so many of them everywhere.

besides, Thousand Sons supposed to be the most powerful of all sorcerers, while in SM2 they are absolute pushovers.

solution

- increase all chaos minoris enemies numbers, but decrease their damage and health to give the player satisfaction of cutting thru hordes Space Marine franchise is all about.

- only ever spawn (at most) 3 rubric marines, or 2 skarab occult terminators, or 1 chaos sorcerer, or 1 helbrute and make each encounter with them a serious boss fight by greatly increasing their damage and making them dodge (by teleporting) and parrying (with their own guns and swords) selective projectiles and melee attacks.

edit:
watch this video. it perfectly illustrates my point of how current Thousand Sons are a joke in SM2.

As chaos hordes do not fall when majoris are defeated this is a bad idea and I completely disagree, this is not what Space Marine "is all about".

- only ever spawn (at most) 3 rubric marines, or 2 skarab occult terminators, or 1 chaos sorcerer, and make each encounter with them a serious boss fight by greatly increasing their damage and making them dodge (by teleporting) and block (with their own guns and swords) some projectiles, and parry melee attacks just like the player can do."

Limiting unique enemy spawns and forcing them into the position of a boss fight (which they were not designed to be) is going to skew combat to be boring.

then design them to be such or fighting chaos will stay boring anyways
