Just sharing what I'm theorycrafting the Prestige system would be. Admittedly this is largely inspired by SC2 - Coop's own prestige system but I think it's better than DOW2's which is just mostly cosmetic. I Imagine prestiges to be be tied to loadouts and that there are at least 3 per class to unlock and choose from. These can either help a class specialize into a specific primary weapon/ a certain playstlye/ or introduce a completely new/unorthodox playstyle entirely at the price of sacrificing something that would've come standard with the class.

Tactical Prestiges:

a. Sternguard Veteran - Specializes the tactical into using only Bolt Rifles. Increases damage with bolt rifles by +1 and grants access to specialized ammunition that can be set in the loadout screen.

Kraken Rounds - Increases range, accuracy, and piercing stats of the rifle by 1.

Dragonfire Rounds - Bolts now explode in a small AoE on impact (comparable to a Neo-Volkite Explosion in size).

Vengeance Rounds - Does 20% increased Damage to Majoris and above enemies and attacks blocked by enemies now do 50% damage instead. However slows the fire rate and range of the bolt rifle by 1 (e.g. from 5 to 4).

Cons - The Marine cannot equip Melta Rifles, Carbines, and Plasma Incinerators.

b. Assault Intercessor - Increases melee damage by +3, cleave by +2. Increases the damage of ranged weapons by 50% when damaging enemies within 10 meters and increases their ammo by 100%.

Cons - Can only equip Bolt Carbines, Stalker Bolt Rifles, and Auto Bolt Rifles.

c. Heavy Intercessor - When equipped with the Heavy Bolt Rifle, Plasma Incinerator, or Melta Rifle, magazine size and ammo is increased by 50%. Weapon stats are also increased while aiming, granting +3 weapon damage, +2 fire rate, and +2 piercing (where applicable). Melee Stomps also do 25% increased damage in a 25% larger AoE.

Cons - Melee attacks have -1 attack speed. Equipped fencing weapons are instead converted to balance.

Sniper Prestiges:

a. Infiltrator - Cloak now lasts 10 seconds longer. Majoris enemies within 50 meters cannot summon or are interrupted from summoning reinforcements. Equipped marksman carbines and stalker rifles also gain +1 weapon damage, +2 piercing, and 50% increased ammo.

Cons - Las Fusil and Bolt Sniper Rifle cannot be equipped.

b. Eliminator - Killing a majoris enemy with a head shot restores 1 ammo, killing an extremis restores 1 magazine (or 5 ammo for las fusil), and if a Terminus is killed (by any squad member) all squad member's ammo is restored by 50%.

Cons - The marine moves 20% slower while cloaked.

c. Interceptor - The first heavy melee attack that breaks cloak does an additional 100% damage and the user now teleports to the enemy if they are locked on (alternatively they teleport to the nearest Terminus > Extremis > Majoris > Minoris enemy respectively) before attacking. If the enemy is killed, ability charge for all squad members is restored by 15%. Cloak drains 50% slower while moving and 75% slower while stationary.

Cons - Las Fusil and Bolt Sniper Rifle cannot be equipped.

These are all that I have thought of for now. Maybe I'll post another once I get the other classes figured out.

I do like the concept that prestige won't just be a re-level with an extra perk but will also be a specialisation into a subclass with at least 2 (preferably more) options to choose from. I like to specialist further into certain playstyles when given the choice and it would add more depth to the game.
