The current patch changes up melee weapons, but it doesn’t address the underlying issues.
- Parry is the most fun and important aspect of gameplay at ruthless/ lethal.
- The Fencing parry window is preferred because it feels the most natural. No amount of buffing balanced will make players give this up when surrounded by Majoris and extremis.
- Block weapons not having a parry destroys their gameplay loop. Extra damage and fancy explosions do not make up for this.
My suggestion is the following:
- Every weapon type gets the current fencing 10 frames on start up parry as base.
- Fencing weapons get their pre patch expanded parry window.
- Balanced weapons get the current patch fencing window
- Block weapons get the current patch fencing window but they do NOT get gun strikes from parries. The explosion thing remains. This allows perks that proc off parry to still work and allows killing minoris and restoring armour, but you trade gun strikes for the explosion and raw damage. Gun strikes would still work on floored minoris.
Folks - no amount of buffing will change the fact that the current balanced parry window feels awkward as hell and no player is going to trade the certainty of parry in a pinch for slightly higher damage. Stop nerfing fencing and just accept this fact.
