The current ones in the PTS are completely against the class identity, if heavy needs a better way to use melee, it should be handled differently.


Dedicating high level perks to barely cover the weakest aspect of the class is wrong.


If someone wants to use melee, they won't pick Heavy.


His perks should bolster, enhance and most of all commit to the playstyle of heavy guns.


Some perks ideas I think would be much more in line or could serve as a starting point:


- Strategic Stand's enhanced Heavy Stance benefits remain active for X time after leaving the stance if you kill X enemies in X seconds.


- aiming with secondary weapon grants a minor version of Strategic Stand with adjusted values.


- during Iron Halo's active period killing enemies grants ammo reserves back to the weapon up to a determined threshold.


- activating Iron Halo prevents teammate's weapon within an area from depleting their ammo for X seconds.


- Shooting a weapon without aiming cools down the weapon/restores ammo while the overheat gauge is still on (up to a threshold).


- allows weapons to shoot while overheated for X time while in Heavy Stance as long as there's ammo left, the player receives DoT due to heat during this period, cooldown X seconds.


Please reconsider the role of the class, I think as an starting point my suggestions align far better with what you'd expect heavy to be able to do when in Prestige, more people or even the Devs surely will have better ideas, but melee is not the way to go.

I play Heavy.  Exclusively.  As the prestige perks currently stand, I will NOT be participating in the prestige system.  Ever.  At all.  There is no reason too.  I do not need, nor do I want, any type of melee damage boost.  Melee currently does exactly what I want it to, give me a gunstrike for armor restore on minoris in one hit.  That is the full extent of its usefulness.   It should never be used for any other purpose. Not swarm clear(the guns do it faster), not damaging majoris(the guns do it better), not even performing executes(which keeps the guns from firing at others for too long).  And yet 5 of 7 prestige perks are melee focused.  This is..........mind bogling to put it lightly.  And the 2 that are not melee focused are so situational that I would never consider reseting my progress to add such trivial bonuses.  Please take some of the excellent ideas this poster has given you and rework the prestige perks.  Even giving heavy some of the perks found on other classes such as tacticals Skilled Supplier, Steel Within, or Resilience; Snipers Exacting Focus; or ANY of Vanguards god tier perks.  Any of those would be better options then any of the current perks available to Heavy.

I shall add to this!!


Sustained StancePerforming a finisher on a majoris/above grants no Overheat usage for 5 seconds, only activates/starts the CD when entering Heavy stance. (30 second CD).


Walking Armoury - allows the use of HBR, removes grenade storage to accomadate, +25% ammo for Heavy Bolter.


​Iron deficiency - Iron halo now shocks Minoris enemies in a 90 degree field and healing upto 1 segment of Health (90 second CD)


Heavy Burden - When Iron halo activates, all ranged enemies within 25m are taunted. +15% Iron Halo durability.


Heavy Fortification - Grants heavy a fourth Armour segment, when heavy uses an armour boost it grants all team members 1 segment back (no longer repairs heavys plates)

just here to +1 this sentiment.  i have over 500 hours in game.  all classes maxed, most things unlocked.  i love this game.  NOBODY outside of yalls studio wants to see heavy in melee.  i've been playing on the test server, and love most of the work you guys are doing, but tac and especially heavy need to have those prestige perks looked at before release.  it makes absolutely no sense to have a class focused on using the biggest guns only to turn him into a melee class the more you play.  we want gun stuff on the gun class please.  i dont know about the ideas in this post, but SOMETHING useful that is not melee has got to be in there.  I agree with whoever had the idea in your studio that yes infinite stomp man is hilarious...for about 5 minutes.  Then its like "ok so where is the real build"?

I'd like to have some perks for melee heavy as an optional but 4 is way too many. Plus there's  no reason ever to only take 1 of those perks, because they have very little synergy with other setup. Combine the perks to make 2 or, hell, combine all 4 melee perks into 1 so we can have 5 or 6 shoot bang bang perks.

As someone who plays mostly heavy, I was so disappointed in his perks. Heavys weakness being poor melee is GOOD. I WANT to be less effective in melee so that it encourages me to play to the heavys strength. It makes his class Identity feel much better.


I would trade literally all of his current prestige perks combined for just 10% more ammo, that's how little I care about them. As is I will never prestige heavy, there's no reason to. If I wanted to melee, I'd play one of the melee classes

I'm ok with 1 perk going towards melee to provide options for those that want it but that's the limit. At the moment if I want the use the Heavy Bolter or Multi Melta then only 2 prestige perks have any use for me. I'm very surprised there aren't any prestige perks that do anything for weapon cooldown / reducing overheating (like there is in weapon perks) and nothing of any use for ammo (getting 1 clip for my pistol on a long cooldown for a melee kill is terrible). Just some ideas that the more creative amongst you could improve on:


- While Iron Halo is active your weapon cannot overheat, but it's cooldown increases by X%


- Iron Halo has a larger, wider area of effect and increases damage absorbed by X% to protect team members


- A very small amount of ammo is restored when you kill a Majoris or higher tier enemy


Idk it's late and I already think previous posts have come up with better suggestions that we currently have to choose from.
