Change ground-slam to be armor-damage only please

The current way Assault ground-slam functions, makes it count as a melee attack, doing direct health damage. 

This encourages spammy gameplay which not only does not look good, but the current state of the netcode makes it get hits it should not and kill instantly along with irrational logic for the damage it targets.


It would make far more sense for the "shockwave" it has to be armor-damaging not only for the sake of balance and for what actually happens, because it's an explosive shock force and grenades don't damage health directly so neither should it.


It can be (and frequently is) abused to kill people through walls and cover by just landing with the splash-range of the slam in range of the target. 

This not only looks bad and feels bad to be hit by as well, but is just plain bad design.

I get so many kills with the ground-slam that I know I by no means should have gotten, and it makes me feel like the game is just in a constant state of unpolished.


But along with this, would be only fitting to buff the melee damage, because the whole lore aspect in Warhammer 40.000 for melee, is that it is a guaranteed lethal way to kill because the cycle of war has gone around so much that it came back again to melee combat to defeat the armor. Ranged classes should be "screwed" if a melee class gets in range, but not because someone just slammed down and keeps slamming down again and again and again.

100% agree. Assault needs a serious rework in pvp.


The hammer AOE is way too big. 

Spamming ground and pound has zero recourse for enemies to defend themselves.

Assault beats every class in a 1v1.

A melta from the sky can wipe a team in 3 inputs with very little skill.

Assault currently incentives players to grief instead of be a team player.

It is the go-to for players who want to ruin everyone's experience.

⚜️Actually I would say the current way Assault ground-slam functions is Accurate to take Health damage and not Armour damage because the Fact that the player is engaging with a melee weapon and like ALL the melee weapons in SM2 attack w/ hand weapons even the ground slam w/ hammer for example affect Health only not armour -- this is the way the melee combat dynamics function. So players have learn how to dodge and escape from being ground pounded & watch for Death from above. Shoot them out of the sky which is what i do -- pretty funny seeing a bird get shot down 🧐 stay frosty and learn counter tactics.SM2 CHAOS.PNG

I see your argument and I raise you a "it's not a freaking direct power-weapon impact".

Imo "spammy attack " may indeed not look good and it is definitely very effective ....on one condition - the assault must have a really good timing, which is not so easy. I didn't play much assault as I mained heavy mostly, I just started practising it now in the private lobby and I discovered it is not so easy to use it in general, not to mention hitting a moving and fighting target in the heat of the battle.


What I mean is, it definitely takes more skill to master the assault than any other class, it's a high risk, high reward play style. That is why the "OPness" of the ground slam is justified imo. And I say it as a heavy class user who is traditionally the natural prey of all assaults. I also agree that shooting them down from the sky, especially during the slam is a lot of fun :D
