I did an absolute true solo using the inferno pistol on the assault. First of all it isn't a great idea because it further limits your range, but I knew that already. 

What I didn't know is how the inferno pistol now has a significantly shorter gunstrike range than the other pistols. This was a terrible change. I get that you don't want it to suddenly have longer range that it does normally, but hot damn it feels extra terrible in combination with other problems this thing has. 

Ammo

30% is far too drastic of an ammo reduction. You're once again making the ammo variant pretty much the only option here, because the other version literally only has 17 rounds on the top row. 17 rounds. Yes, the inferno is amazing against trash but like the melta and heavy melta it is mediocre against majoris outside of the stagger. Please either increase the damage by an appropriate 30% if you want us to be clever with how we use it, that way it's not relegated to just trash duty, which there are better options for this purpose. 

Gunstrike damage

THis has to be a bug. Right? Testers have determined that on absolute, the inferno pistol does EVEN lower damage than the bolt pistol. I think without a parry youre only doing 51? Whereas the bolt pistol (standard damage, relic tier) does 62. This means when corrected, the base inferno pistol only does 21.8 ddamage. The bolt pistol does 26, whereas the heavy bolt pistol does 39. What gives? The inferno pistol gunstrike DOES hit multiple targets but the cone is surprisingly small. And compounded by its short range (often times you knock a minoris back and the gunstrike fades because you're no longer in range) and exceptionally poor damage, it just feels awful. 

If you're gonna keep the range short, at least make it so it's one of the few sidearm that can devastate a big group of enemies on a successful gunstrike. Not only does this make the inferno pistol more fun and interesting, it will also offer it a another unique role in the kit. 

TL;DR

Consider reverting the ammo nerf or give a base damage boost to compensate. If you're not going to revert the gunstrike range nerf, make the gunstrike more devastating and affects more targets in a wider cone. 

I would gladly accept a 30% ammo nerf for a 30% damage buff. If it does the work of that 30% that I am now missing it is still the same damage potential, just each shot has more impact.

The gunstrike damage is just criminal. The lack of range murders it, too. It was a weapon with glaring weaknesses even in the previous preview, and now it just has far too many draw backs.

The inferno pistol just highlights how dumb it was to do melta dirty like they did, i.e. it is not supposed to be a cone, it is supposed to be a short to mid range concentrated beam of heat that melts armor like butter. It should have been a beam/stream weapon that heats up then when you hit the reload button it expels the heat as a blast like it currently normally shoots. I have hated melta weapons since day one for how non-lore accurate they are. They are an insult to "melta."
