I'm running into a problem playing Space Marine 2 (with the latest patch installed) crashing to desktop from time to time when playing on my PC with a Radeon RX-7900XT.    I do not have any problems playing any other games aside from this gane on PC (5700X3D CPU, 32GB Ram, and RX-7900XT Video Card, NVME Drive, 850W Power Supply) and the temps (CPU and GPU) are within tolerances.    Using the latest drivers available (24.9.1)

[UPDATE]

I used HWINFO64 running in the background while playing the game to let it log the max temps for both GPU and CPU and noticed that my GPU is getting to almost 90-95c, with hotspot temps getting near 110c. Out of all the games I play, this is the only one that pushes the GPU this hard. I needed to tame the heat so here's what I did to fix it

  • Created a Game Profile for Space Marine 2 in Adrenaline (Performance -> Tuning)
  • The REFERENCE 7900XT cards FAN curve in its firmware is not adequate. The firmware has the maximum FAN speed set to 66% regardless of temp. In the game profile, I created a FAN curve (fine tuning controls) specifically with the following ettings

P1 - 30c @ 23 % Fan Speed

P2 - 50c @ 31 % Fan Speed

P3 - 65c @ 45 % Fan Speed

P4 - 80c @ 75 % Fan Speed

P5 - 95c @ 100% Fan Speed

  • Set a power limit of -5
  • Undervolted to 1075 mv
  • Capped In-Get FPS setting to 90 (even though it doesn't reach that high when gaming, just to keep the menu in check)

No more crashes in operations and temps are being kept at bay when playing this game (below 90c GPU temp).  If the game is crashing in the desktop for you when playing and you've verified HWINFO64 is showing that your GPU and HOTSPOT temps are very high, then might want to try this procedure and watch those temps.
