Incorrect Dark Angels Cosmetics

The new DA cosmetic pack is rife with blatant inaccuracies. And for a PAID DLC that doesn't feel very good.

Starting out with one of the most obvious, they only added the DA specific battleline icon, leaving out the DA fire support icon, and the close support icon with the DA specific gothic numeral squad number as opposed to roman. On top of this, they even mislabeled the battleline icon as fire support, which is odd seeing as they are two completely different symbols. (see image below for DA battlefield role icons and incorrect one in game)

Sticking to the theme of battlefield roles, they even went through the effort of making a second battleline icon (again, also mislabeled as "fire support") With a thinner arrow and a dot, only used by a single successor chapter (bringers of judgement). Seems odd to go through the effort of doing that, and not even provide us with the other 2 basic battle role markings of close support and fire support that the vast majority of dark angels successor chapters use. (see image below)

Again, on the theme of iconography/heraldry, they got the deathwing shoulder symbol wrong. They got the kneepad ones correct, but somehow didn't carry that over to the shoulder pad. The sword and wings should be red, not white and gold, and the sword should be broken in the middle of the blade. (They got the broken sword part right for the kneepads, but not on the shoulder...) I get that you can change the color to make it right, but the sword is meant to be broken.

Another inaccuracy, Dark angels weapon casings are red. Not sure where the green weapon casings on the DLC weapons came from. Also the DA aren't exactly fans of a whole ton of filigree and décor like these weapons have, they tend to use very little ornamentation. I get that they may have just wanted to make the guns look "cool" but lets at least have the correct colors.

Unfortunately we didn't get a dark angels sergeant's helm either, that would've been nice to see, but oh well. (see image below)

For a PAID DLC I'd expect things to be right, and at least have the basics covered. All of these inaccuracies could've been avoided had the design team actually looked at a dark angels codex, as all this is described in detail in there. The attention to detail on this cosmetic pack feels EXTREMELY lazy, the ultramarine's cosmetic pack had some stuff wrong, but this one has a lot. I expect much better out a paid product.

I sincerely wish I hadn't bought the gold edition of this game. I thought the season pass would provide a ton of cool cosmetics, but the amount of inaccuracies is crazy. I would've never bought the season pass knowing that this was the standard for the cosmetic design.

To add to that, it's true that they never mentioned voiceovers, but when I bought the game I didnt know the whole Operations section wouldve been completely filled with Ultramarine references. All space marines i have played that allowed other chapters were at the very least neutral, but here I feel like I've spent 30 shekels to let Ultramarines cosplay as DarkAngels. And it is also rather short sighted, as I do not see how Space Wolves fan to spend any money for having their Russ' cubs talk like stuck up butlers.

Agreed. I thought there would be a lot more cosmetic options. Many missed opportunities.

Yea it's sad. Also hoped the few things they did give us would at least be correct.

It isn't overly expensive to add voice packs for each chapter.

Each Champion should have unique voice lines that we can use for other characters so we have variety.

I couldn't wait on Saber so I have a completely voice acted soundboard for each class.  It isn't perfect representation of a Space Marine, but they are fun and feel good to use.

By the way, they also left out Deathwing Bladeguard right pauldron's veteran icon and Ravenwing right pauldron's squad number. And I hope there would be Ravenwing Black Knight pauldron also.

That wierd traditional style veteran marking that GW did in the launch boxes always seemed wierd to me, the DA have had an established veteran marking of the upturned sword for a while (lieutenant is a downturned sword) so they at least have that veteran symbol. The squad number you could use the """fire support""" (really battleline) marking and turn the arrow black maybe?

Yes, exactly. NEVER has a dark angel been shown with a green gun. Its like they never looked. Especially at the battle role icons.

If people have been making various suggestions of things to change and to add, and it's sometimes been said that they can't because Games Workshop needs to give them the go ahead, then how did they manage to put in all this inaccurate content?

Exactly. Lately GW has been very lax on this themselves. The lore/painting/modelling departments do not converse. GW themselves are just as much to blame, but all saber had to do was open the dark angels codex for 5 minutes...
