Recycling the Campaign Abilities into New Classes (Idea)

Greeting Brothers,


    If you're anything like me you've spent a good amount of time fighting alongside your Battle Brothers in the Campaign mode. However after play the initial time, and the many subsequent times after, it struck me as odd that two out of three of the Main Character's abilities didn't make it into Multi-Player modes. (Specifically Battle Cry and Righteous Fury) And after reading through forums and taking some notes, I feel like I have an idea. It's known that creating an entirely new class from scratch is... difficult to say the least. But on that note we already have two functioning abilities that have been play tested by a lot of people... Granted they may need a little work to but completely functional, but my thought was "What if we take those abilities from the Campaign and roll them into new Classes?

Righteous Fury -> Litanies of Battle

Titus's signature ability, Righteous Fury, from the campaign would be really good in operations, granted it would have to be toned down a bit, but it can be made stronger through perk selections. I think if it's reflavored into Litanies of Battle, it could be a good fit for would a Judiciar Class, basically a Chaplain in training. Quoting from the 40k Fandom "Judiciars must prove their worth in battle to join their Chapter's Chaplaincy proper, doing so through acts of devotion and the slaying of enemies." This seems to fit the theme quite well, and perks could be used to spread the increased damage or a portion of the healing to other marines.

Battle Cry -> Psychic Blast​

Gadriel's signature ability, Battle Cry, from the campaign could be useful for crowd control on higher difficulties. Perks could be used change the properties like increasing damage, increasing knock back, or even rooting enemies in place. With some added psychic visual effects and retitled to something like, Psychic Blast, this could be a good fit for a Codicier Class, a young Librarian in training working under the chapter's more senior Librarians. Being a lower rank of psyker would explain being only able to use one psychic power.

​Chaos equivalents 

A Wordbearers First Acolyte for the Judiciar Class. The First Acolyte works under a Dark Apostle could be considered an equivalent to the Judicar training under a Space Marines Chaplain. Plus the strange dark religion stylings of the Wordbearers would be a cool to see as a in-game model!


Thousand Sons Chaos Apprentice for the Codicier. While there isn't a lesser version of a Lesser Chaos Sorcerer, I think this class/name could kind of convey a similar feel without being too far removed. Also again, love the Thousand Sons style! Their Models in game really make me want to play one.

Possible Armor and Weapon Loadouts

I took some time and looked at the wargear loadouts for the units I referenced for these classes, and using that information I tried to pick things that were on theme while not giving them access to absolutely everything.

These are just some examples I came up with, most are piecemealed together from already existing perks, but I tried to make some new ones that sound/function in cool ways. (Please note I am not a game dev or very good with numbers, so I used X's in place of actual numbers because I'd have no clue how to balance these...

So that pretty much sums it up, I know it's not super innovative, but I think it's something that could possibly be more feasible in the short term. Thank you for reading!

Over the last few days I've added quite a few things to the idea post including but not limited to; Pictures, Possible Class Perks, Possible Weapon Loadouts, additional clarifying information in a few areas, and cleaned up and condensed the post for easier readability. I like how many people voted for my idea for the devs/mods to actually start acknowledging out ideas again. Because great ideas just like this one keep popping up but get zero response from the mods.

It could be that there's probably a certain threshold of upvotes and comments that has to be reached before an idea is acknowledged by devs/mods. Or given how deep they are in development of patch 7.0 and Space Marine 3, they could just be REALLY busy. I think I'd lean towards the latter, but either way it turns out to be, I'm glad some of my Battle Brothers here like my idea. So once again thank you for the comments and upvotes!

One of those ideas that's well thought out and practical. Should give a different enough feel as well with war gear. Librarian's perk tree could focus more on support perks we already have from other classes and the chaplain is more melee/offensive based like assault/vanguard.

Thank you Brother, and I definitely like that idea! I'm just not sure how I'd try and suggest something without having already existing support focused perks to base them on. Mostly because I'm not sure what variables/stats are able to be altered/modified by perks. But if I had to try, maybe something like: 


Residual Shielding - When Psychic Blast is activated all allies gain one shield segment.


But that's already partially based on the Heavy's Emperor's Protection perk. Even the small change to it I did might be way too good depending on Psychic Blast's cooldown. Beyond that though it'd take me a good bit to think of others that could feasibly exist within the established perk guidelines. Ya know?

QuickeningThe Librarian gains precognitive powers, allowing him to outfight his enemies by seeing their movements before they even act.

Increase in dodge/parry window.

Null ZoneThis power removes the mystical defenses of any enemy within range of the Librarian.

Increase dmg against enemies within 5m

Veil of TimeThe Librarian steps out of phase with time, witnessing myriad potential futures and using that knowledge to alter the course of events to prevent or bring them about.
Prevent reinforcements?

If you look at Precognitive Reflexes it does what you're suggesting for the first one, but for the whole squad. As for the other two, those are both good choices! If applied like Tip of the Spear from Vanguard and Signal Jammer from Tactical I think those would work pretty well for gear choices. I'll look into writing something up when I have time later this week. I definitely appreciate the time and interest Brother.
