Found this comment on YouTube and I couldn’t agree more wholeheartedly. 

IMG_3849.jpegAll that was needed was to buff the bolters and insert the lethal difficulty in addition to addressing bugs and performance issues, as well as things that were not “working as intended”. Why do Devs always choose heavy handed nerfs to validate their work? Initially, this game had the foundation of a great team based tactical experience… now it feels like a “top 1% sweaty gamer” button mashing experience. Not every game has to appeal to sweaty players. There is enough of those games out there. From my experience with random players in operations (with 321 hrs invested) the average group was not always achieving “victory” before the patch. In fact, some of the runs have been pretty challenging due to group dynamics and skill levels. I have had more than my fair share of “mission failures” in operations with randoms. I saw no evidence of random groups consistently plowing through operations that would warrant these nerfs. Perhaps some nerfs may have been in order, but not to the severity delivered by this patch. A balance of fun and a good challenge is what this game needs. Thats just my opinion.

Hey I know that icon...have to say I was not prepared for the sheer amount of salt at the patch and comments that never saw the light of day after posting what I thought was a calm and well-reasoned video that didn't jump to conclusions.

Before Helldivers2 it was TheDivision2. I guess SpaceMarine 2 will be added to the list...

It's sad to see games killed by their own devs.

Wholeheartedly agreed. They even managed to make the lower difficulties feel like a miserable slog now too. Swarms are out of control, dodging feels worse, the armor reductions for both Substantial and Ruthless feel far worse than what they've stated(Though, maybe the 10% and 20% are right and it's just that enemy damage was boosted) and for some reason it feels like all of the enemies' HP has been buffed even for the lower difficulties. So much shit has been broken due to their "fixes" that no one has asked for.


What has been noted and even acknowledged by the Devs (Bolters suck, Block weapons suck, and enemies are waaaay too spongy) has been ignored. Instead, they go the entire opposite direction and make our weapons suck more and the enemies tougher for the sake of artificial difficulty. The game is no longer fun and challenging. It is cheap and frustrating.


*sighs* However, there is another balance patch coming in a week or so. I'd like to hope that some of these idiotic changes are reversed, but, given their track record? I'm not holding my breath.

Agreed.  The game feels like a chore now.  The game was not too easy, not by a long shot.  Even on the lowest difficulty, you are getting a handful of extremist and nearly ceaseless waves.
