I think it would be a good addition if the perks were also linked to the loadout. Some perks are related to weapons, such as plasma boost for the Tactical Marine.

This would be a huge boon, especially with a toggle for global selection while folks are still earning their perks. Weapon perks also depending on loadout would be nice for a similar reason, to take weapon perks that better synergize with the subtype/unlockable variant selected and the class equipping that weapon.

Yes, that's right - I had even forgotten about the weapon perks. And perhaps more than just three loadouts - maybe even five.

Thanks for posting this. Seems like a clear oversight. If you're idling and end up in a quick match without the right perks for your build, you can feel it when it matters.

After a few hours of playing I probably found the reason why perks (classes and weapons) were not linked to the loadouts.

I think it was designed that way because you can change your weapon loadout during a mission and they probably don't want you to change your perks as well.

But this freedom would encourage much more experimentation and in this generating more fun. So I don't think you should worry about that.

playing as sniper this would be insanely cool. I don't know too much about the other classes yet but my class perks are heavily tied to the weapon I'm using so the weapon swap pods become essentially useless unless I have 3 loadouts of the same weapon because otherwise if I swap from las fusil to carbine like 3 or 4 perks are now completely useless.

Agreed. Tactical class has reload time reduction perks which are useless for plasma weapons but critical for melta builds. And I want to customize armor per loadout too, so plasma is blue, melta is red, and boltgun is yellow (and so on)

IMO this idea should be rather easy to implement:

UI changes

  • Move loadout selection buttons to the top of the screen instead of above the weapons (better user experience since it would be clear that they now cover more than just weapons)

Functional changes

  • Store a copy of the perk selection for character and weapons in each loadout.
  • Global character perks tree would remain but would be hidden and used only to track progression (unlocked perks)
  • Global weapon progression would also remain hidden

First time after applying the update

  • For character perks: copy a selection (array of 8 numbers for example) from the global tree
  • For weapon perks: for each weapon in the loadout, copy the perk selection into it from the weapon tree

With this there will be no disruption for users that aren't changing anything

Managing character perks

  • The same UI can be reused but the unlocking affects only the global perk tree, after that point the perk would be selectable in all loadout trees

Managing weapon perks

  • The same UI can be reused but, again, the progression and version unlocking only affect the global tree, after which the version will be selectable in the loadout trees
  • Resetting the weapon perks in the UI would only affect the corresponding loadout tree, and user would have the points corresponding to the weapon progression (from global tree).

This way we retain the global weapon progression but each loadout using the weapon could have a potentially different set of perks

(Nice to have) More customization of weapons

  • Move weapon appearance customization to the character customization UI: add rules for each weapon used in any loadout (if a weapon is used in multiple loadouts it would always look the same)
  • Skins can be unlocked using the same system as other skins, example: Galathamor crusade alpha would be unlocked when the corresponding version is unlocked in the global weapon tree
  • (Detail) Whenever a weapon is changed in the loadout and no rules exist for it, the exclamation symbol should be shown in the customization button

This change would open the door for consistent looking battle brothers, example: for my Grey Knights I always use the relic skins that look kind of grey (obviously), but for my Deathwatch marines I prefer the basic Master-Crafted skin on each weapon even if they are relic tier

Please devs, make it happen !
