Penalties for leaving the mission.

EN.Hello developers! I would like to express my opinion regarding players leaving PVE missions. Firstly: There are situations when a player enters a mission and seeing that his "favorite" class is busy, he simply leaves. And the bot that was initially on the session changes, which is quite unpleasant. For example, the support bot changes to an assault trooper, which is not suitable for a particular mission. Some players abuse this. Seeing that their class is busy, they take an assault trooper and leave the mission. Secondly: There are sweaty rinks, really tense ones, when every member of the squad is important regardless of class. So one of the players is incapacitated. We safely revive him. The second time the player is killed and he gets a cooldown of 5 minutes. But instead of waiting for the timer to end, the player simply leaves the mission. This is at least unpleasant. So the idea is to introduce a penalty or cooldown for such players when entering online missions. For example, I intentionally leave the mission on the barge, and the game sends me immediately offline for a certain time, for example 10-15 minutes. During this time, the player cannot launch an online PVE mission and cannot join anyone. But the player can launch the mission in offline mode.

When the quality of the connection provide is so poor, this kind of punishment is difficult to be fair, but it's a good point

It's not so simple. It's not always about "favorite" class being taken. There are many players who have just one or two characters leveled. If I try to join game on ruthless and both of classes I have leveled are taken I prefer to leave the game than play with level 2 class I have no idea how to play. It make no sense to get punishment for that.

You shouldn't be able to join in an already started game if your current class is taken in the first place

Ditto to the previous comments but I'll just restate to support that this isn't a good idea now:

  1. Number one problem is connectivity. I play on Xbox and have been dropped with the game crashing completely and sending me to the Xbox home screen way too many times to count. I don't want to be penalized because the game crashed.
  2. If I get matched to a game with my selected class already in play, especially if I'm playing a higher difficulty with only one or two characters leveled for that difficulty, I don't want to stay in because I won't be able to contribute to the gameplay. Plus the other players are gonna be pissed at me for joining when I'm not leveled up.

I think that if this is organized wisely, then players with a bad connection or crashes will not suffer from penalties. For example, so that the game can see when a player intentionally goes to the barge, and when not. In this case, only those players who intentionally leave, for example, in the middle of a mission will suffer. Regarding classes. I have all the classes pumped up. I pumped all the classes exclusively on the maximum difficulty, even before the release of the 5th difficulty, since there is much more profit in terms of experience there. I had to suffer, but I pumped up all the classes in just a few days. And during the entire pumping, I almost never encountered negativity towards me. And now I understand that it does not matter what class level the player has. If the player plays in a team, and not on his own. Then I will always help such a player. After playing so many missions, it immediately becomes clear whether the player is in the team or not. Like many others, I have classes that I play most often. For example, Vanguard, Soldier, Support, Sniper. Situations when they would not be in the mission are minimal. But at the same time I would not mind playing for the Assault or Bastion, despite the fact that I am not strong in playing for these classes.

Still, giving a player an option to lock class he wants to play would solve half of the problems you mentioned. If someone wants to play a game with a certain class - he should have option to do it without being punished for that. For example lobby where you can for example select bot you want in your game. And if someone joins the game in progress he would be able to see what classes are in game and leave the game before joining without disrupting ongoing gameplay.

If a player exits a mission on the class selection window, then a penalty should not be issued. The player did not start the game and did not enter the mission, why should he be given a penalty? The game should understand when a player was thrown out of the game due to a server failure or some error, and when the player intentionally exited. But there are players who, seeing that their class is occupied, take an assault trooper, and then exit the mission. The bot does not change after this, but remains as ballast. As if on purpose. I do not argue, this is a rather controversial idea. My job is to suggest. I am sure the developers know better how to do it better.

Most games I end up "leaving early" is because the game crashes. Until they have a re-connection option it probably shouldnt be a punishment for something like this. The game is full of bugs and whatnot still, I think its inappropriate to punish someone for something so small.
