This game is STILL a technical nightmare and Saber should be ashamed.

The frequent and long loading screens, coupled with the constant connection issues makes attempting to play this game truly an infuriating experience.  Combined with the shitty matchmaking, it's killing my spirit.  They have recently addressed the matchmaking with a comment stating that they will add "Improved PvE Matchmaking which reduces the chance of joining a team with the same class", but let's be real, the chance should be ~0% , and it should have already been this way at launch. We are 7 months post launch and the fact that they are just now addressing the awful matchmaking is maddening. Equally frustrating is the repeated claims that they are fixing connection issues with patches,  yet it has never gotten better.

No other game wastes my time like that. I want to play Space Marine 2, not Loading Screen Simulator.

Sorry to hear you have such a bad experience, it seems like it's time to buy a new computer. I do not experience anything like that.

Whenever I experience connection issues (like teammates and enemies moving in a slideshow manner despite having good ping), restarting my router usually fixes the problem.

I'm on Xbox, so the only issue I have is the frequent long loadings. They might not be that terrible individually, but as they stack up, I spend way too much time not killing enemies and just doing trite stuff. Like, do I seriously need to reload the battle barge again just because I join or leave the session, which will leave me in the exact same place?

How long are your loading screens? My PC is only a few years old yet I don't have any loading problems, not sure what people typically get on console.

We don't have much information to help you. What computer do you have? Maybe that's the problem.

I'm on Series X. Restarting router does nothing. Restarting the game does nothing. Turning off crossplay does nothing. Trust me I have tried EVERYTHING suggested since this has been problematic since launch.  It is not my device or internet connection; I can load into another game and play without any issues as well as use the internet for literally anything, again without issue.

"A technical nightmare" wouldn't have been bought by 6 mln people and wouldn't have a very positive review on the Steam, don't you think ? Something doesn't add up here.

Poorly optimized games do well in the market all the time. That's not the least bit unusual.

As for people wondering about specs, I've run into many of the same issues that OP has despite playing on one of these with a fiber connection. The problem is, in fact, Space Marine 2: the netcode is bad, the matchmaking is pathetic, there are way too many loading screens, and the Always Online functionality is ridiculous and unnecessary. SM2 succeeded in spite of these problems because the other parts of the game are very good, but that doesn't mean that the problems don't exist.

You are right "other parts are very good" and the technical problems you mention do not concern majority of players, that is why the game is so successful and making a thread saying that SM2 is "a technical nightmare" is just a slander and spreading of fake news.

Bro come on, honest feedback is not slander/ fake news. There are consistent technical issues reported daily. Check the bugs section. The success of a game cannot be measured in reviews. Yes a few million bought. Are they still playing? no. under 6k now average now steam alone. there was 70% drop during first 6 weeks. Most of those initial bugs and technical issues reported still aren't resolved. Can't imagine the drop on consoles. Every time someone provides honest feedback there are people like you to quickly shoot them down. Probably why we live in the age of slop.

-  Bro come on - this was NOT HONEST feedback.

-  Every game has bugs.

- The success of a game CAN be measured in official Steam reviews, this is one of the most objective methods. Do you have a better one ?

-  Do you really expect 6 mln ppl (everybody who bought the game) to play the game over 7 months after the release ? really ? Is this your first computer game ever...second ? This kind of players drops are normal for this kind of game at this time, this is not a live service game and 6k average is more than enough to be able to find a pve\pvp match any day, any time easily. No, the gaem not daed, lol XD

-  What do you mean "people like me" - rational, logical, objective ? - thx :)

-  Bro, there is a world of difference between an honest and constructive feedback and a whiny rant entitled "This game is STILL a technical nightmare and Saber should be ashamed."

- No, bro, SM2 devs have nothing to be ashamed of, they can be proud of this game.

Lord, when will you stop counting by steam charts, this is normal for a singleplayer game, it's not like CS Warzone and Dota, where 220 thousand people play it all the time, most of them finished the campaign and went to play other games, I'm sick of this nonsense with counting people on steam? Do you have problems finding players in pvp or pve? No, but stupid people drag ooooh we have a 70 percent drop in players since release. dumb zoomers with clip thinking

It's insane to say that pointing out a game's very real problems is "slander", and also extremely pathetic to suggest that doing so is "fake news". Just because a large amount of people were willing to overlook SM2's inexcusable technical issues does not mean that it's wrong to talk about them or demand better from the developers, especially when those they're the most cited factor for why players moved on. For some hard evidence, check out the Steam Chart:

image loaded from urlNearly 200,000 people were playing on release, but those numbers took a nosedive as soon as players finished the campaign. Now, a reasonable amount stuck around for a bit of Operations or did some PvP, but the majority found their patience worn thin because there were so many obstacles keeping them from actually playing or enjoying themselves.

By comparison, Left 4 Dead 2, a 16 year old game with no progression systems or battle passes or any modern systems to keep players logged on and locked in but is incredibly easy to pick up and play (even offline) because it's robust and loads quickly, is pulling these numbers:image loaded from url

For a more recent comparison, here's Darktide, which was very famously also plagued by performance problems and excessive loading and other annoying bullshit:image loaded from url

These kinds of issues have very real consequences and pretending that they're excusable because the other parts of the game are good is stupid.

I never said that  "pointing out a game's very real problems is "slander"," I said calling a very good game a "nightmare" and a reason to be "ashamed" is. See the difference or should I paint it ?

"

How did you precisely estimate that those technical problems is "the most cited factor for why players moved on." where did you find this info ? People leave every  non live service game several months after release, with technical problems or not.

Also, it is not majority of players who experience these "problems" - I don't and neither do all my friends I play with. The fact that you collect a dozen or two negative comments coming from people with skill problems or sub par computers doesn't mean it's a game's problem, lol.

Indeed. So many loading screens. really tired of it. There is no need for so many loading. Devs must optimize matchmaking because it is really terrible.

no point talking to this dude, he's either affiliated with sabre as I'm beginning to suspect many of these non-sensical defenders are, or lives in an echo chamber. dude just needs to read back through the forums
